Compensation : $47,000 - $50,000 annually FLSA Status : Full-Time, Non-Exempt Position Summary The Bilingual Case Aide assists with a full range of social services for a variety of Title XX program areas such as child abuse and neglect cases, youth in conflict cases, adult protection, screening, intake, assessment and providing care coordination to eligible children, families and adults.

The Bilingual Case Aide is responsible for delivering care coordination utilizing the practice models implemented at the Lake County Child Welfare and Adult Protection Program.

They are responsible for engaging families and service providers in the process following the values and principles of the practice models utilized.

The Bilingual Case Aide strives to support families in managing their own services and supports and strengthening their natural and social support systems.

General Duties and Responsibilities Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Essential Functions - Assists caseworkers with coordination of services such as day care, financial assistance, health (physical and mental), legal and provides information on available services.

Ensures confidentiality is maintained with all families. - Coordinates and supervises supervised visits with children and family members ensuring that the appropriate interaction occurs;

coordinates meetings with clients and community professionals. - Works to engage families and adults in the process of their team meetings and works to ensure that children, youth, families and adults have voice and choice in the process.

Arranges and provides transportation for children in DHS custody to appointments, therapy, school, court hearings etc.

attends and testifies in DHS case court hearings based on content and intervention with clients; ensures the implementation of court orders.

  • Links families to services and resources as identified in their team meeting process and care plans and assists to navigate those services and resources through the direction of the Case worker or Manager.
  • Conducts outreach services to community agencies, schools, community centers and other agencies where families and children may come in to contact with services.
  • Collaborates with services providers to identify and address barriers to care coordination. - Maintains professional working relationships with other community social service agencies and related programs in order to have a strong referral and resource network for families.
  • Participates in all Quality and Performance Improvement Activities. - Works and communicates with the Social Case Workers to ensure families and adults have peer to peer support throughout the process.
  • Assists Social Case Workers with the facilitation of in-home services to families and adults Life Skills, Checks background information including TRAILS data base, Colorado Courts, Sex Offender Registry, Accurint, CBMS and other data bases when required.
  • Prepares documentation for RED teams. - Participates in group / team activities as required (RED team, CPT, APT, CET) - Ensures appropriate documentation for referrals put into TRAILS, completes forms and writes some correspondence.
  • Maintains complete, accurate and timely records such as contact notes and care plans on each child and family. - Supports Social Case Worker in maintenance of files.
  • Completes IV E and MOE in TRAILS as required. - Prepares necessary documentation in regard to supervised visits and / or home visits.
  • Participates in meetings and staffings as requested. - Completes other related duties as assigned (put in orders for vehicle maintenance, on call calendars, office supplies etc.

Supervisory Responsibilities Not applicable Personal & Professional Conduct - The Bilingual Case Aide must be a champion for the principles of Child Welfare and Adult Protection.

They must be outgoing and possess the ability to engage others in the process. Bilingual Case Aide must be open to cultures and values that are different from their own and be able to work towards missions and visions that vary from their personal beliefs.

The Bilingual Case Aide must exemplify the highest standards of personal, professional, and ethical conduct and abide by the LCDHS Personnel Policies.

In particular, the Case Aide must demonstrate capacities for trust, responsibility, initiative, self esteem, caring and integrity.

Case Aide is required to participate in continuing education programs for continued professional growth.   • 6 months full-time professional work experience (social services experience preferred). - Training : Upon appointment of position - CBMS, TRAILS, Statewide Hotline, IV-E - Maintains a minimum of 15 training hours per fiscal year for Child Welfare.
  • Maintains a minimum of 5 training hours per fiscal year for Adult Protection, as appropriate. Other Requirements : Bilingual in Spanish and English, able to speak fluently with adequate reading and writing skills.

Demonstrate the ability to relate to children, families and adults in a positive manner, ability to extend emotional support to families in crisis with a non-judgmental attitude offering compassion and strength in an objective manner.

Leadership qualities to include the ability to give direction and to work cooperatively with peers and accept direction as needed.

Knowledge of community resources and ability to access needed services for families and adults. Must have own vehicle and have reliable transportation at all times, able to maintain insurance and registration on vehicle and posses and maintain a good driving record.

Knowledge of : - Colorado Department of Human Services Statewide Child Abuse or Neglect Hotline practices and procedures - Working knowledge of casework practices, procedures, and guidelines.

  • Knowledge of community resources Ability to : - Ability to efficiently plan, schedule, and organize. - Establish support with clients.
  • Independently analyze complex situations, formulate plans with colleagues and make quick decisions as needed. - Ability to accurately and efficiently complete the necessary paperwork, reports, and documentation.
  • Ability to work independently as appropriate. - Clearly and concisely express oneself both verbally and in written format.
  • Establish and maintain harmonious professional relationships with other employees, outside agencies, and the public. - Travel in order to conduct visits when necessary.

Must possess and maintain a valid Colorado Driver’s License and the appropriate level of personal vehicle insurance. - Travel to conferences or events within and outside of the state of Colorado may be required.
