Closing Date: Until Filled Lake Forest School District 67 is seeking a full-time Building Coach for Cherokee Elementary School. Description: The Instructional Building Coach impacts student growth and achievement in academics, behaviors, and social-emotional well-being, acting as a catalyst for professional learning by building educator capacity and ultimately positively impacting student learning. Through a collaborative approach, the Instructional Building Coach develops student-centered goals grounded in data with staff members and/or teams to inform instructional decisions and identify areas of improvement while monitoring progress toward those goals. Common coaching cycle activities include co-planning, co-teaching, modeling, data review, observing and providing strengths-based feedback, and problem-solving. The Instructional Building Coach plays a critical role in supporting the implementation of the district's and school's strategic plan by developing and facilitating professional development opportunities to ensure that staff is receiving the skills aligned with the overall vision and priorities outlined in the Portrait of a Learner. The Instructional Building Coach is covered by the Lake Forest Education Association and is not an administrative nor evaluative role. Essential Functions:
Coordinate with leadership to align coaching goals and activities with district/school improvement plans related to instructional practices and student achievement growth
Support staff in the implementation of curricula, instructional strategies and evidenced based practices
Collaborate with Building and District coaches regularly to build collective efficacy and increase the impact and uniformity of the coaching program across the school district
Stays current with trending educational research and new learning methodology
Partners with teachers to ensure equity, opportunities and access for all students
Design, evaluate, and lead high-quality professional development learning opportunities for the purpose of building staff capacity to support students' academic, behavior, and social-emotional achievement
Assist in the development and implementation of instructional plans and assessments that align to applicable standards through co-planning, co-teaching, modeling, data review, observing and providing strengths-based feedback, and problem-solving
Other job-related duties as assigned in accordance with the contract
Qualifications: Education, Experience, and Licensure (required and preferred)
Current Professional Educator License (PEL) or eligible for PEL
5 or more years of teaching experience - preferred
Previous experience as a leader at the team, content, or building level - preferred
Experience designing, delivering, and coordinating professional development learning activities that embed effective adult learning practices - preferred
Experience implementing evidence-based practices of instruction, curriculum, and assessment
Competencies (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
Knowledge of evidence-based academic, behavioral, and social-emotional inclusive practices to differentiate and scaffold learning to support students with diverse needs and backgrounds
Skills in leveraging technology tools and platforms to support teaching and learning
Skills in effective communication, active listening, interpersonal, and team facilitation skills
Ability to use data to make informed decisions
Physical Demands & Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to be mobile and transport instructional materials from one setting to another within the building. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
