Lake Travis ISD is Hiring an Elementary Instructional Coach Near Austin, TX

Primary Function:

Under the direct supervision of the Director of Curriculum and Instruction, provides multifaceted professional learning support to teachers, campus and district staff in effective design and delivery of curriculum which results in high levels of student engagement in challenging, authentic, and meaningful ways; in effective assessment of learning practices; and to promote positive change and commitment for 21st century learning leading to improved performance of all learners.

Responsibilities/Duties:

Program Implementation

  • Philosophy Support : Uphold and advocate for the philosophy and vision of Lake Travis ISD.
  • Professional Learning : Facilitate intellectual and professional development for teachers, promoting positive changes in instructional practices and student achievement.
  • Instructional Practices : Demonstrate and communicate research-based instructional practices to enhance student performance.
  • Adaptability : Respond productively to change and manage additional tasks as assigned.
  • Co-Teaching : Model and co-teach instructional strategies ensuring rigorous core instruction for all learners.
  • Standards Assistance : Aid teachers in understanding state standards across all grade levels and content areas.
  • Data Analysis : Support individuals and teams of teachers in analyzing multiple data sources, including student work, to reflect on student growth and refine instruction.
  • Effective Practices : Assist teachers in implementing effective instructional practices.
  • Observation & Feedback : Observe classroom instruction, providing timely and specific feedback focused on student learning behaviors.
  • Coaching Conversations : Conduct coaching sessions with teachers to foster reflection and instructional improvement.
  • Collaboration : Communicate and collaborate effectively with district and campus leadership, teachers, students, paraprofessionals, parents, and the community.
  • Improvement Plans : Support and engage in district and campus improvement plans and attend required meetings.

Program Management

  • Program Oversight : Support the implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of assigned programs for elementary and secondary education, ensuring efficient administration.
  • Record Keeping : Maintain accurate records and reports as required by the district.
  • Alignment : Align work with district efforts in the assigned area.
  • Professional Learning : Attend professional learning sessions and collaborate with other district instructional coaches to enhance skills and knowledge.

Professional Development

  • Training Delivery : Plan and deliver high-quality professional learning and support to teachers on curriculum design, instructional strategies, and assessment practices.
  • Diverse Learners : Address the needs of all learners, including special groups such as ELL and GT, integrating effective strategies into day-to-day teaching and learning.

Communication

  • Teacher Meetings : Plan and conduct meetings with teachers.
  • Consultation : Consult with administrators, counselors, and teachers regarding struggling students.
  • Professional Relationships : Maintain professional relationships with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
  • Information Presentation : Use effective communication skills to present information clearly and accurately.
  • Support Requests : Respond promptly and positively to support requests from campus and district administrators.
  • Department Coordination : Coordinate departmental activities with other district offices and provide assistance as needed.

Policy Implementation

  • Compliance : Follow district and department policies and procedures, as well as federal and state laws, including State Board of Education and local Board policies.
  • Documentation : Compile, maintain, and file all required reports, records, and documents.

  • Instructional Strategies : Knowledge of effective instructional strategies, research-based practices, and instructional technology.
  • Family/Community Engagement : Experience in family and community engagement activities.
  • Professional Learning : Proficiency in effective professional learning practices.
  • Communication Skills : Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Interpersonal Skills : Tactful, patient, and courteous interpersonal skills.
  • Data Management : Methods for collecting and organizing data.
  • Technology : Proficiency in operating a computer and using relevant software.
  • Policy Knowledge : Understanding of district policies and procedures, and relevant federal and state laws.

Education/Licenses/Experience

  • Certification : Valid Texas Teaching Certificate.
  • Advanced Degree : Master’s degree from an accredited college/university preferred.
  • Experience : Minimum of three years of successful teaching experience. Evidence of leadership roles and experience as an instructional coach preferred.

Working Conditions

  • Mental Demands : Self-motivated, able to perform tasks with minimal supervision, manage multiple complex projects, maintain emotional control under stress, and communicate effectively.
  • Physical Demands : Ability to lift/carry 15-44 pounds, frequent sitting, standing, walking, climbing, and other physical activities. Prolonged use of computer and occasional travel and irregular hours.
