Lakeside School is Hiring a 2024 Aftercare Coordinator Near Seattle, WA

Summer at Lakeside is currently recruiting for an Aftercare Coordinator for the Investigative Learning Camp, a STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics)-based academic summer camp designed for students entering grades 3-8. The position will be part time. The aftercare program runs July 8 – August 2, 3:00 p.m.- 6:00 p.m. There will be a mandatory orientation meeting on Tuesday, July 2.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise a diverse group of students that have different educational backgrounds and experiences
  • Oversee aftercare check-in and check-out procedures
  • Using camp supplies, develop and supervise a varied and engaging set of indoor and outdoor activities for elementary and middle school students
  • Work with the Investigative Learning Camp Director to provide individualized support for campers and to manage any disciplinary or behavioral issues that may arise
Requirements And Qualifications
  • Energy and enthusiasm to engage campers at the end of the day in varied and appropriate activities.
  • Plan and supervise a daily craft/activity; place supply orders with the Summer School Office Assistant.
  • Demonstrated cultural awareness, including knowledge of themselves and the cultural lenses they bring to interactions. The candidate will understand different perspectives; interact respectfully with cultures other than their own; and cultivate meaningful relationships with people that have different cultural frameworks.
  • Prior experience working with a diverse student population and demonstrated equity and inclusion mindset. Candidates should be aware of their own identity and biases; candidates actively work to create an inclusive environment.
  • A high-school degree, bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Experience coaching, teaching, or tutoring a diverse group of elementary or middle-school students
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Positive and collaborative attitude
  • Candidates must satisfactorily complete two criminal background checks.
  • First Aid and CPR certification obtained before July 2, 2024
CompensationThe stipend for this position is $1,500. This activity will only run if enough students register. Enrollment will remain open until June 1. If the number of students enrolled is too small to run by June 1, or if the course is canceled for any reason, the stipend will not be paid.
