POSITION – Senior Construction Inspector (Multi Discipline), starting immediately.
LOCATION – Reporting to the Resident Engineer, at LaGuardia Airport, NY- Hangar 5A (East Elmhurst, NY 11371.)
SCOPE – Primarily airport and building work to include knowledge across civil site work, Fire Alarm, MEP, hydrant fuel systems, structural, and maintenance of traffic.
REQUIREMENTS – Willingness to learn and ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Verbal communication includes speaking with the Resident Engineer, other contract staff, facility staff both in person and via two-way communications. Ability to read and interpret plans and specs and prepare written contract administration documentation such as daily narratives (work reports), special inspection reports, daily time and material records, and document unit price work. Identify potential extra work issues and keep the Resident Engineer advised of potential issues. Review plans for constructability and prepare comments. Ability to conduct preconstruction and construction progress meetings, coordinate multiple work locations, perform audit inspection throughout the construction process, coordinate for quality assurance inspection of completed work. Ability to actively coordinate between private business entities at LGA, and the various departments within the facility to successfully complete tenant alteration work. Verify safety procedures are maintained. Working knowledge of NYCBC. Coordinate contractors work with the Facility as needed.
- Bachelors’ Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or University is preferred.
- Minimum 4 years of experience inspecting construction work, varying in size (projects ranging from $500K to $5 million plus) and complexity (multiple crew and crew sizes per shift)
- Aeronautical construction experience is desirable
- Valid driver’s license required and ability to obtain a high SWAC clearance, LGA SIDA badge.
- OSHA 30-hour certification required.
- Familiarity with BOCA, NYC Building Code, NFPA 72, NFPA 13 and Other Applicable Codes and Standards
- Experience in civil inspections including, but limited to, concrete reinforced structures, asphalt placement, excavations, shoring and trenching
- Competent in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, Excel
- Familiarity with Primavera and Expedition/Contract Manager
- Ability to pass a Background Check for Aeronautical (airside) access
Pay Rate: $40.00-$75.00/Hourly Salary (This may vary depending upon years of experience and education.)
