Lallemand is Hiring a Safety Director Near May, MO

Main Functions
We are currently looking for a hands on Safety Director to oversee plant safety at our 5 sites in the US and 4 sites in Canada.
Rhinelander WI, Hutchinson MN, Memphis TN, Baltimore MD, Hattiesburg MS, Montreal QC, Tara, ON, Cornwall ON, and Trenton ON
The ideal candidate will be based near one of our US plants. They will oversee the entire safety program of NA, while working closely with a counterpart based in Canada.
The Safety Director ir responsible for ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations within the workplace. He or She will play a critical role in creating a environment for employees and minimizing occupational risks. As the Safety Director, you will develop and implement safety plans, enforce policies, and evaluate practices to maintain legal compliance. Assisting the sites to achieve business goals and objectives in a safe manner.
Responsabilities:
  • Develope and Execute Safety Plans:
    • Create and implement health and safety plans according to legal guidelines.
    • Continuously monitor and adapt safety procedures to ensure compliance.
    • Assess risks and hazards, aiming to minimize them.
    • Ensure that every site has an effiecient Safety Committee, with reasonable representation of hourly employees. That corrects issues on a priority basis.
    • Ensure the site conducts weekly and mopnthly safety audit walk throughs.
  • Policy Enforcement and Training:
    • Prepare and enforce safety policies to establish a culture of health and safety
    • Conduct safety training sessions for employees on procedures and regulations.
    • Communicate guidelines effectively to a multidisciplinary workforce.
  • Compliance Monitoring:
    • Inspect and verify company compliance with relevant safety guidelines.
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in accordance with guidelines.
  • Accident Investigation and Improvement:
    • Analyze incident reports, metrics, and injury case studies.
    • Provide recommendations for improvement based on findings.
    • Work towards creating a safer work environment.
    • Promote appropriate safety behaviors and improve on the safety culture.
Technical skills
Required
  • Knowledge of both OSHA (US plants) and OHSA (CA plants)
  • Relevant Certifications (e.g., Certified Safety Professional, Occupational Health and Safety Technician)
  • Proven experience in safety management
  • Strong attention to detail and hazard identification skills
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities
Personal abilities
Required
  • Must be able perform pre-project safety reviews, ensuring a safe installation and operation after install.
  • Must be a Team player.
  • Needs to be a forward thinker and problem solver.
  • Self-motivated and able to work without supervision.
General criteria

  • Must be able to travel.
