Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (other duties may be assigned) :

Load and unload starch, slurry, and oil trucks.

Drive Hyster to dump totes and perform cleanup of loadout pad and area.

Maintains safe work practices at all times and participates in safety programs.

Maintain accurate Baume' readings and check starch levels every hour.

Check all motors to see that they are running. Includes ascending / descending stairs to clarifier catwalk and to filter cake and hopper bins catwalk to check levels.

Clean starch tanks, floors, and catwalks by peeler incline belts.

Clean waste treatment area including truck bin load-out floors, oil tank floors, vacuum drum floors and area.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS :

Collect QA waste samples.

Obtain depth reading of solids in clarifier.

LANGUAGE SKILLS :

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS :

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentages.

REASONING ABILITY :

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but un-involved written or oral instructions.

Ability to deal with problem situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS :

Valid driver's license required.

Certified to drive Hyster.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES :

Tools and equipment used : shovel, hose, Hyster, tractor, and dump truck on occasion.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS :

Must be able to work while standing for long periods of time.

Must be able to ascend / descend stairways, ladders, catwalks, and work at heights up to 30 feet.

Must be able to work independently without a lot of supervision.

Must be able to discern the time to communicate problems to the lead or supervisor.
