Working Arrangement:
Contract (6-12 months), Hybrid role, Travel and Work at client site. Must be able to travel within North Carolina at least 75% of the time. Expectation is Master Tax Advisor, Enrolled Agent (EA) will travel every other week to client sites in Winston Salem, Dobson and Boones Hill, NC areas and spend up to 5 consecutive days at various client sites.

Job Description:
We are seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Master Tax Advisor, Enrolled Agent (EA) to join our accounting firm. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing expert tax advice, preparing tax returns for individuals and businesses, and representing clients before the IRS. The EA will work closely with our accounting and tax teams to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations. As the EA, you will devise resolution strategies and provide expert guidance and support to our clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Tax Preparation & Filing:
- Prepare and file federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and trusts.
- Conduct thorough reviews of financial records to ensure compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations.
- Tax Planning:
- Provide expert tax planning strategies to minimize clients’ tax liabilities.
- Advise clients on the potential impact of new tax laws and how to remain compliant.
- IRS Representation:
- Represent clients in IRS audits, collections, and appeals.
- Communicate and negotiate with the IRS on behalf of clients, resolving tax-related issues effectively.
- Client Management:
- Maintain strong client relationships by providing exceptional service and clear communication.
- Stay updated on changes in tax legislation and ensure clients are informed of any impact on their filings or planning strategies.
- Compliance & Research:
- Research and interpret tax laws, regulations, and court rulings to ensure firm compliance.
- Assist with other compliance issues, including payroll tax, sales tax, and excise tax filings.
- Collaboration & Team Support:
- Collaborate with accountants, bookkeepers, and other team members to ensure accurate financial reporting and analysis.
- Support junior staff and assist in training or mentoring when needed.
Qualifications:
- Active Enrolled Agent (EA) license is REQUIRED.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field (preferred).
- 5 years of experience in tax preparation and IRS representation.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
- Experience with tax preparation software (e.g., QuickBooks, Lacerte, ProSeries, or similar).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
