  • Facilitates the collection, storage, security and integrity of electronic data while ensuring appropriate access.
  • Promotes new uses of information technology within the organization.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Director of IT will oversee the development and implementation of comprehensive IT strategies, mange the department’s budget, and align the IT infrastructure with organizational growth objectives. The IT Manager oversees, analyzes, reports on, recommends and implements improvements to the IT infrastructure and systems. Directs technological research and implementation by understanding the organizational goals, strategies, practices and user projects. Establishes a culture of continuous improvement by looking for ways to grow the organization's IT infrastructure in cost-effective ways to meet its future needs. As a member of the Leadership Team, the Director of IT participates in strategic planning and budgeting initiatives for The Organization. The Director of IT supports the mission, vision and values of the organization, upholds and enforces the guidelines and policies of the organization, and demonstrates The Organization's values of teamwork, excellence, achievement, and motivation in all personal interactions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Program Implementation and Infrastructure

  • Responsible for guiding the overall IT governance, risk management, and compliance efforts.
  • Sets the strategic direction for IT services and oversees their alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Leads digital and transformational initiatives.
  • Develops and maintains a comprehensive cybersecurity security program by reviewing security requirements, making recommendations and upgrading systems as necessary. Responds to, investigates and acts on security breaches, emergencies or violations.
  • Creates and administers disaster plans that will keep the company functional in the event of a crisis.
  • Reviews performance of IT systems to determine operating costs, productivity levels, and upgrade requirements. Develops network maintenance and growth plans, creating annual and project budgets.
  • Directs and coordinates, researches, negotiates and monitors contracts and agreements with outside contractors, suppliers, service providers and others by developing standards of performance. Identifies opportunities when outsourcing or hosting is a viable option.
  • Develops, documents, implements and maintains IT policies and procedures, including those for architecture, security, disaster recovery, standards, purchasing, and service provision.
  • Works closely with all departments to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost effective technology solutions as well as provide direction and support that enhance operations.
  • Provides technical information and assistance to the Board of Directors to assist in their strategic plans. Serves as the liaison to the Board's IT & Data Committee.
  • Develops and implements departmental budget and reviews monthly financial statements. Ensures projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget through regular monitoring of outcomes and expenditures.
  • Facilitates the development and implementation of an effective personnel administration plan for the department, to include hiring recommendations, comprehensive staff training, staff supervision, evaluation of work performance, establishment of performance standards and offering opportunities for personal growth and career advancement.
  • Oversee the management and enhancement of our security infrastructure, including security cameras, badge access systems, and electronic door locks.
  • Develops an IT training program and coordinates with third party entities to create a job placement program in conjunction with the Employment Services department.
  • Other Duties:

  • Serves as a role model for the staff, participants and volunteers and as a member of the leadership team works to create a healthful and respectful environment.
  • Ensures all safety procedures and practices are followed and enforced, and that safeguards and personal protective equipment are used when appropriate.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work with confidential information and comply with established policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Demonstrates a willingness to gain and possess thorough knowledge of The Organization's programs and seek ongoing educational opportunities related to the position.
  • Provides support to other departments as needed.
  • Performs other reasonably related business duties as assigned, including but not limited to program promotion, representing the organization at events, and fundraising activities.
  • Completes training as mandated by organizational policy.

    • Technology/Tools: ability to use various software systems, intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office products, or other comparable programs.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Required:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field. Or High School/GED diploma with five years' experience in related field. MBA and/or certifications such as MCSE or PMI preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum ten years of related management and supervisory experience in a similar position. Experience in IT infrastructure strategic planning and development, project management and policy development, network architecture and client/server technology preferred.
  • Clearance/Certification: 1) TB clearance, 2) Criminal background check, 3) Pre-employment drug testing, 4) Child Protective Services/Adult Protective check, 5) Military Base access
  • Valid driver's license and clean driver's abstract

WORKING CONDITIONS/HOURS:

  • Monday through Friday, normal business hours 7:30 am – 4:30 pm. Hours and work days, including weekends and holidays, may vary due to operational needs and contract requirements. Indoors, office setting and telework available, occasionally outdoors; may travel to see employees, other program sites, meeting sites, etc., as required.
