Description

 Job Summary

Under the guidance of the Director of Digital Learning, the Manager of Instructional Technology oversees the implementation, enhancement, training, and support of the learning management system (LMS) and instructional technologies. This position supervises the Instructional Technology team and is responsible for coordinating all instructional technology projects. This role also liaises with the Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) and the Office of Information Systems (IS).

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Evaluate and coordinate the integration of educational technologies and LTIs.
  • Understand and apply pedagogical, user experience, and learning experience design principles. 
  • Administer systems through management of users, courses, schedules, or general data in an educational context.
  • Maintain awareness of accessible technologies and implementation strategies.
  • Monitor compliance with institutional, governmental, and accreditation regulations, including FERPA and copyright law.
  • Evaluate and support performance improvement of subordinates.
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to navigate complex landscapes and multifaceted projects.
  • Superior time-management skills.
  • Able to work independently, be attentive to detail, communicate clearly, and solve problems.
  • Able to handle sensitive and/or confidential matters with integrity and professionalism.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate the administration, enhancement, utilization, and support of the learning management system and educational technologies.
  • Manage the Digital Learning Instructional Technology team to provide learning management system support and course development assistance.
  • Under the guidance of the Director of Digital Learning and in collaboration with the Manager of instructional Design, provide leadership to the development and resetting of online and/or blended courses in accordance with industry-standard procedures and practices.
  • Provide strategic and timely communication to stakeholders regarding the status and functionality of the learning systems.
  • Initiate and/or lead initiatives to develop and implement innovative uses of technology for teaching and/or student learning.
  • Provide project management leadership to select course development, technology, and training/resourcing projects.
  • Oversee and consult on the evaluation, selection, and implementation/integration of technologies with the learning management system, courses, and programs.
  • Provide expertise and support in applying user experience design methodologies to the development, implementation, and evaluation of online and blended courses.
  • Oversee the creation and publication of support documentation on the effective use of the learning management system and educational technologies.
  • Coordinate with the Director of Center for Teaching and Learning in the planning and delivery of training, seminars, and workshops on the effective use of educational technologies.
  • Manage relationships with the Office of Digital Learning’s software vendors.
  • Regularly attend chapel as an active member of our learning and worshiping community.

Education/Experience

  • Master’s degree required; field of study in education, instructional technology, educational technology, and/or equivalent experience preferred.
  • 3 years' experience with an industry-standard learning management system(s), instructional technology, and user training/support.
  • Experience with project management and staff supervision.
  • Experience with Anthology Student (formerly CampusNexus) or a similar Student Information System preferred.
  • Experience with media capture and e-learning authoring tools (Camtasia, Captivate, Articulate 360, etc.) preferred.
  • Experience with JavaScript, HTML, and CSS preferred.
  • Experience with managing SaaS solutions in an educational context preferred.
