Lancaster General Hospital is Hiring an Estimator (Full Time/Days) Near Lititz, PA

Outpatient services are provided at the Downtown Outpatient and Suburban Outpatient Pavilions, along with additional outpatient centers and Express and Urgent Care locations throughout the region. Lancaster General Health Physicians is a network of more than 300 primary-care and specialty physicians, at more than 40 offices throughout the region. Summary 1.0 FTE M-F, 8-4:30 Job Description Estimator Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00AM-4:30PM Location: This position is located in Lancaster, PA. POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for calculating patient’s out of pocket (co-pay, coinsurance and deductible) payment estimation, making outbound calls to patients to inform of and collect on patient liability and outstanding and credit balances on patient accounts. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Qualified individuals must have the ability (with or without reasonable accommodation) to perform the following duties: Validates payor information and verifies deductible, co-pay, and out of pocket expenses Calculate patient liability range and use best judgment to provide estimate based on available information Research any outstanding or credit balances on patient accounts, make posting corrections, post refund in financial systems Make outgoing calls to patients in order to make liability collections Work with patients by educating them on the payment process and timeline, referring to Financial Counselors as needed Prepares and sends estimate letter to patient Manage patient workqueues according to department standards and performance expectations Maintain appropriate records, files and timely and accurate documentation to patient accounts Serve as resource to Registrars, Admitting, and Financial Counselors Participate in department audits as needed SECONDARY FUNCTIONS: The following duties are considered secondary to the primary duties listed above: Answers inquiries in a professional and timely manner. Interacts with internal and external customers according to established guidelines, and reports all discrepancies and customer service issues to manager. Performs required typing/computer input, filing and clerical duties to include knowledge of operation and assistance with office equipment. (i.e. fax, copier, mail room tubes etc. Retain competency in registration functions to include insurance input and regulatory requirements. Other duties as assigned. JOB REQUIREMENTS MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: High School diploma or equivalent (GED). One (1) year using strong professional communication skills. One (1) year using professional skills of interpersonal relationships. One (1) year medical insurance background; medical insurance validation tools. Customer service skills. One (1) year of computer/typing. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in related field Two (2) years of medical terminology experience. Two (2) years of computer experience.
