Job Details: Title: Compensation SpecialistWork Location: White Plains NY 10601Duration: Permanent 
Summary
  • Responsible for assisting with the planning and design and implementation and administration of compensation programs that attract, retain, motivate, and reward employees while ensuring internal equity, external competitiveness, and compliance.
  • Provides support and administration of compensation programs, including salary programs, annual compensation review; compensation analyses; benchmarking of roles; maintaining and updating position descriptions, and conducting job evaluations. 
  • Maintain knowledge of trends and legislative issues affecting compensation.
 
Responsibilities
  • Support the implementation of the company's compensation philosophy, strategy, policies, and programs.
  • Recommend changes to compensation policies & procedures.
  • Administer the annual compensation review process including market pricing, review of job title, and description.
  • Administer annual merit increase program, coordinating data with HRIS and management; ensuring adherence to policy, and generating summary reports for senior management.
  • Administer additional compensation programs (stipends, incentive pay, etc.) ensuring adherence to policy and generating summary reports for senior management.
  • Review changes in wages and salaries for conformance to policy.
  • Evaluate positions and application of existing classifications to individuals.
  • Conduct job evaluations for salaried, hourly, middle, and top management positions for assigned business units.
  • Handle new or changed position requests which fall outside of the annual compensation review process for assigned business units.
  • Coordinate and participate in annual salary and pay practices surveys. 
  • Consolidate information for submission to assigned surveys and follow up on requests from providers. 
  • Provide an overview of market trends and best practices from various survey sources.
  • Counsel and communicate with managers and staff on compensation policies and procedures to ensure smooth operation of compensation initiatives.
  • Supports other members of the Human Resources team as needed to complete projects and keep others informed.
 
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of compensation, performance, motivation, and rewards programs
  • Knowledge and experience participating in compensation salary surveys.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Good research skills in a variety of mediums to remain up to date on compensation surveys, trends, and laws.
  • Current knowledge of human resources areas required (including Federal and state employment laws, FLSA, ADA, EEO, compensation, etc.)
  • Good written, verbal, and presentation skills required.
  • Strong Excel skills required.
  • Knowledge of and experience in using Microsoft Office programs (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access).
  • SAP Personnel and SuccessFactors Compensation Module experience preferred.
  • Familiar with compensation survey management tools required, Kenexa’s CompAnalyst preferred.
  • Ability to work with all levels of the organization.
  • Good organizational and time management skills required.
  • Demonstrated flexibility and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong attention to detail required.
  • Ability to observe confidentiality required.
 
Education, Experience, and Certifications
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum seven (7) years’ experience working in a compensation role required.
  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) designation preferred.
  • Experience with technical industry preferred.
  • Experience as an HR generalist or working with multi-site setting preferred.
 
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit at a desk and use a computer and telephone.
  • Minimal travel primarily within NY State
