Job Description: General Summary
Researches, designs, develops, and tests systems-level software and/or hardware. Designs and coordinates complex engineering projects at the system level. Performs functional decomposition to drive requirements and specifications to both hardware and software. Analyzes information to determine, recommend, and plan installation of a new system or modification of an existing system. Ensures system-level performance and power metrics are met. Drives triage of problems at the system level to determine root cause.
The Display Processing Unit (DPU) is responsible for the conversion, color management and compositing of image streams from other blocks, such as the GPU, CPU, video decoder and camera. It formats, packetizes and synchronizes the composited image for display through display interfaces such as display port, USB-C. DPU functional model is used to develop and analyze display features for the best image quality at lower cost. Chip power and performance for key usage cases is a critical determinant of competitive advantage. As such, performance analysis and power estimates receive high levels of attention throughout the organization.
The responsibilities of this role include:
Support, maintain and improve the display functional modeling infrastructure. Work with display system, hardware and software teams to integrate, develop and validate display features.
Integrate/develop System C TLM models of DPU in the full system TLM SoC platform for performance evaluation and analysis. Develop and integrate components in the display performance platform. Perform performance analysis and correlation with the RTL. Present analysis results and provide recommendations.
Working with the display team power prime and provide DPU power models as the modules evolve in architecture and silicon technology. At various points in the DPU design cycle, from early concept to final silicon realization, models of differing complexity / accuracy are required.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
C/C programming, scripting, Linux and windows environment.
Excel modelling
Version control software such as git, clearcase
Strong presentation and communication skills
Strong analytical, and time management skills.
Methodical, data oriented, detail oriented Self-motivating .
Preferred Qualifications
Strong background in display system and SoC memory architecture.
Exposure to performance simulators (event & cycle driven modeling) and performance correlation
Performance benchmark/workload analysis and characterization.
Understanding of what factors drive SoC power consumption at architectural / block level.
Grasp and abstraction of complex architectures and usage scenarios.
