  • Designs/Implements electronic hardware for wireless communication devices used in IoT and metering applications.
  • Research/Evaluates new HW components/technologies for wireless communication devices used in IoT and metering applications.
  • Designs/Implements experiments to validate the electronics design.
  • Technical support to product management, manufacturing, and third parties
  • Prepares or directs preparation of PCB layout and detailed PCBA drawings and schematics.
  • Responsible for component selection and print documentation.
  • Lead in component and/or solution design, development, documentation, and validation.
  • Work on agile development teams, collaborating with multiple cross-discipline architecture teams to develop hardware and software components as part of L G Smart Grid solutions.
  • Participate in recruitment, development, and mentoring of junior engineers.
  • Lead functional area-specific continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Lead in innovative technology and solutions development and/or validation.

Knowledge, Skills, And AbilitiesRequired:
  • RF, Analog and/or Digital Electronic hardware design.
  • Knowledge in Communications technologies RF Mesh (Wi-SUN), Cellular (LTE M, NB-IoT), Wi-Fi, ZigBee, Bluetooth/BLE
  • Knowledge of Standard communication stacks including OSI model, TCP/IP, UDP
  • Computer-aided simulation (e.g., PSPICE, LTSPICE, MATLAB, CST, HFSS, etc.)
  • Excellent listening skills and ability to understand information and ideas presented through spoken words.
  • Experience using common lab test equipment such as DMMs, oscilloscopes, Network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, waveform generators, soldering/desoldering stations etc.…
  • Computer skills such as C, C , debugging, scripting programming languages- Python, various software packages such as revision control and issue tracking, and Microsoft Office familiarity.
  • Excellent relationship-building skills
  • Mathematical Data Analysis
  • Generate Documentation for Technical Specifications and work with Product Management
  • establishing Product Requirements
  • Proficiency with development processes, tools, and related frameworks.
  • Proficiency with relevant development and/or validation methodologies.
  • Deep knowledge of AMI and Smart Grid Systems and Solutions
  • Advanced design, development, or validation skills in functional areas.
  • Ability to understand data effectively to solve problems and support ideas.
  • Ability to design, break down, and complete a project of a large scope with high-level productivity.
Any of the following experiences is a plus:
  • Knowledge of best design practices used in designing electronics products targeted to operate in environments exposed to high voltage surges and high voltage/high-frequency noise.
  • Precision voltage, current, power, or energy measurement experience - analog-digital converters
  • (ADC), small signal, OPAMPs, etc.
  • Magnetics design experience
  • Power supply design experience - SMPS, linear, offline, DC-DC
  • Electricity metering/AMI/Electric utility experience
  • Instrumentation design experience
  • Embedded System or Python programming experience
  • Mixed signal design experience
  • Multilayer board layout experience, preferably with Altium
  • Experience working with RF, high-speed communications, or EMC compliance.
  • Black Belt or Green Belt Six-Sigma
  • Design for high-volume manufacturing.

  • Ability to lead a project with a small group of people, such as hosting weekly meetings, and communicating with other partners in written forms.
  • Ability to give on-point and actionable feedback to peers.
  • Ability to build cross-teams and cross-functional relationships which will facilitate ongoing projects.
  • Make contributions to improve the engineering team. For example, activities like interviewing, or mentoring
Education And Experience
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • At least 6 - 10 years of related hardware design or development experience in the electronics field.
  • Will consider an equivalent combination of education and experience.
