General Description: The Assistant Business Developer is an entry level position at Landscape Development Inc. (LDI), will assist in developing and pursuing new accounts and producing accurate and timely bid estimates. The Assistant Business Developer reports to the Business Developer.
Essential Job Functions
- Submit Estimating Information Sheets (EIS) forms and communicates within department as appropriate to create accurate bids
- Create and/or finalize proposals for existing and new clients
- Review completed bids for accuracy and scope, compiling for final DL approval
- Assist in generating pre-call planners and closing strategies for each bid
- Assist in submitting accurate company bids in a timely and effective manner. Meet deadlines of requesting party
- Review duration schedules and budgets prior to final sign-off of contact
- Assist in the update of the CRM and revenue pipeline data weekly
- Estimate a yearly unique volume of $10M, with no quarter less than $2.5M.
- Follow the bid process flow chart
- Use all features of On-Screen Takeoff software, including organization tools, review tools, and ability to export files
- Prepare organized takeoffs and complete takeoffs including the use of LDI’s standard color chart and OST folders, conditions (style library), and layers
- Read irrigation and landscape ‘blueprint’ documents, details, and specifications
- Generate project-specific Request for Quotes (RFQs) including, sending RFQs to vendors, updating internal stakeholders on progress, uploading complete RFQs to SharePoint, and tracking those not received
- Knowledge of irrigation and landscape items contained within the Helix estimating database including cost components, sub-assemblies, and estimate items
- Operation of Helix Software including bid creation, section creation, and bid line entry. Distinguish between the core quantity, factor, and total quantity. View statistical bid checks, comparative bids, section bids, and schedule of work items. Find cost components, sub-assemblies, estimate items, labor rates, crew rates, and average hourly wage. Use the calculator, estimate review highlighting, quick query, and power query. Perform global modifications on Helix bids, sections, and lines
- Ability to prepare proposal letters free of content errors with correct use of notes, important job concerns, qualifications, and exclusions
- Completes estimates by the projected completion date and with adequate time for reviews by the team leader, BD, and DL, and within the Bid Timing KPIs
- All estimates, including checklists, are complete at first review, and within the Team Leader Changes KPI range

- Familiarity with MacOS and Microsoft Office Suite, On Screen Takeoff, Excel, Word, PowerPoint/Keynote and search engines
- Self-starter, motivated to meet monthly goals with minimal supervision
- Solve problems quickly and completely
- Spanish is helpful, but also not required
Education/Experience/Licenses/Certifications
- The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s degree or has equivalent experience in the fields of horticulture, landscape architecture, construction management or a similar course of study
- 3 years’ experience actively assisting in contractual, purchasing, staging, and customer relations for large landscape projects
- Knowledge in the areas of irrigation systems, hardscape, erosion control, and plant identification for the {region specific} region
