WHAT WORK WILL YOU PERFORM?
This position leads the strategic direction of Landstar's Expedited and Cold Chain service offerings, including education and growth across Agents, BCOs, Customers, Corporate Staff, Field and Sales management teams.
Manages and develops the logistics processes to support the business, fulfill requirements and ensure monitoring, governance and continual improvement of Expedited and Cold Chain service offering. Develops key staff in Expedited and Cold Chain Departments.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Partners cross-functionally in the development and execution of the strategic plan for the Expedited and Cold Chain Services department.
Develop and implement an education program that increases awareness and general knowledge of Expedited services within Landstar's Agent, field staff, and National Accounts team.
Develop and implement a Cold Chain certification program for Landstar's Agents, BCOs, and Corporate staff.
Standardize Cold Chain processes to record, maintain, and audit for compliance.
Provide operations and sales support to Landstar's Agents, BCOs, field staff, and National Accounts team.
Build relationships with carriers and vendors in each market, to leverage Landstar's volumes/buying power to gain priority access to capacity and negotiate competitive pricing.
Partner with IT to develop system solutions that support operational efficiencies.
Support the recruitment of agents and capacity.
Develop and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) overall performance.
Provide coaching, counseling, and ongoing feedback to staff to ensure work is completed to meet required standards.
Participate in industry trade events.
Must be able to travel up to 25% of the time, with the possibility of additional travel as needed.
Provide resolution for escalated concerns.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Minimum Experience and Education:
Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university or equivalent experience.
Five years’ Cold Chain Logistics experience.
Preferred Experience and Education:
Five years’ Expedited industry experience in the transportation/logistics industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Five years’ management experience in the transportation/logistics industry.
