Lantern Community Services is Hiring a Resident coordinator Near New York, NY

Status : Full-time.

Schedule : Tuesday through Saturday (12am-8am)

FLSA Classification : Non-Exempt

Job Location : Washington Heights, Manhattan

Hourly : $22.52

The Resident Coordinator is a position that adapts to the presenting needs of clients and serves as front desk security for the building.

The Resident Coordinator is an integral member of the team in ensuring the overall stability and safety of the program / building.

The Resident Coordinator ensures the integration of practices and policies that facilitate a respectful and safe environment for all clients.

Essential Functions :

  • Works directly with program staff to ensure the effective operation of the program and services consistent with applicable program policies and procedures and ensures client needs are met on an ongoing basis.
  • Monitors and reviews daily security logs, including shift logbook, overnight guest logbook, and visitor logbook to ensure seamless communication and monitoring of program and clients, particularly regarding serious issues and vulnerable clients.
  • Check visitors in / out of the building.
  • Responsible for documenting incidents, interventions, and issues that arise via case notes, incident reports, and any other agency-mandated protocol.
  • In conjunction with the Program Director, manages the building response to medical, law enforcement, and other emergency situations.
  • Performs administrative tasks and other job-related functions, as assigned.

Required Education and Experience :

  • High school diploma / GED is required.
  • Previous experience working in the human services field with an onsite provision of social services.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Sensitivity to issues involved in working in a diverse organization.
  • Computer skills, with knowledge of Microsoft suite and comfort working with databases.
  • Bilingual skills in English and Spanish are a plus.
  • Security Experience is a plus.

Preferred Experience :

Knowledge of HIV / AIDS, mental health, substance use or chronically homeless population.

Supervisory Responsibility : None

Work Environment : This job operates in a supportive housing site and works with a population who experiences mental illness, addiction, disability, HIV, and other chronic illnesses.

Physical Demands :

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, climb stairs, and / or kneel.

They must also use their hands to type, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to talk or hear and must occasionally lift and / or move up to 5 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Some positions at Lantern Community Services have work responsibilities at more than one work site as well as fieldwork in the community.

These employees are required to travel between sites during the work day with physical demands that could include walking up to .

25 miles, climbing stairs, and carrying work materials that could weigh up to 8 lbs.
