Job DescriptionLantmännen Unibake USA, Inc. is proud to provide the job description for a motivated and experienced Quality Control Technician to join our team in St. Petersburg, FL. This position is an integral part of our support team who will interact with all production departments. Computer, Interpersonal, and communication skills are critical to success in this position. We are hiring for 3rd (11pm-7am) shift. Eligible for shift differential pay.Job Summary:The Quality Control Technician performs testing and evaluation of raw materials and finished products to ensure adherence to specifications, and quality. Responsible for following food safety requirements pertaining to BRC, AIB, GMP and any other legal or legislative rules and / or regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
  • Consistent and punctual attendance each scheduled workday. Reports to work fit for duty and sustains fitness throughout the day.
  • Responsible for adherence to food safety requirements pertaining to BRC, AIB, GMP and all other legal or legislative rules and / or regulations that apply.
  • Promotes Food Safety Standards (BRC/AIB) to employees and takes corrective action to correct deficiencies when noted.
  • Supports, maintains and reports critical issues affecting the BRC program.
  • Performs various functions and duties following written or verbal instruction.
  • Works with Production Supervisor to resolve daily quality issues.
  • Monitors employee’s compliance with BRC, and GMP Food Safety Program.
  • Performs data collection, and uses computer system to maintain information on product quality.
  • Conduct GMP/ BRC / AIB and sanitation audits of operations and warehouse areas.
  • Work with operations personnel on quality and food safety issues.
  • Verify that HACCP operations control systems are functional. (Metal Detector)
  • Gathers production samples as required
  • Bake-off product to evaluate conformance to specification.
  • Assists in trouble-shooting quality related issues.
  • Performs filing and other administrative duties.
  • Cleans and maintains laboratory areas and equipment.
  • Abides by Company safety rules and performs duties in a safe manner at all times.
  • Employee may be required to work overtime and different shits, if necessary.
  • Performs any and all other duties as assigned.
Education And QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • High School graduate or a GED equivalency required
  • Prior Bakery experience preferred, but not required
Skills & Knowledge
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, decimals, bakers percent, area, circumference, density, and volume
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Basic computer skills and a working knowledge of Word Processing and Excel
  • Demonstrate sound work ethics
  • Possess cultural awareness and sensitivity.
