Laramie County Community College Foundation is Hiring a Custodian ll (RAC) Near Cheyenne, WY

  • Hours of Work Monday - Thursday 5 pm to 130 am and Friday 3pm to 1130 pm OR Tuesday - Saturday 300 pm to 1130 pm with 30-minute lunch break.
  • Screening will begin ASAP and continue until the position(s) is filled.
  • Start date to be determined, but as soon as practicable after the hiring/interview process. Tentative start date June 28, 2024.
Salary and Benefits This is a full-time, benefited, Classified 4 level position. Starting range $16.26 - $18.38/hour, depending upon experience.

Job SummaryThe Custodian II position is a full-time, benefited position, that provides clean, safe, and professional facilities for our students, community, and stakeholders. This position may work on a team or individually to perform cleaning, trash removal, floor care, setup and tear down for athletic events, special floor install and removal for special events. Providing clean, attractive, healthy, and safe facilities for events. Individuals in this position are expected to represent the Department and LCCC in a professional manner.
Additionally, this position may also support and perform the duties to support setup teams. This position may require the ability to work a flexible schedule and provide support to alternate shifts or for special events setups. The current shift schedule for this position may vary based on institutional need but is currently scheduled as follows Monday through Thursday 5 pm to 130 am and Friday 3pm to 1130 pm or Tuesday through Saturday 300 pm to 1130 pm with 30-minute lunch break.
Other tasks may be assigned based on contemporary institutional need.Essential Functions– this position is Non-Exempt, i.e., is eligible for compensatory or overtime pay provisions of the FLSA. This listing of essential duties is not all-inclusive, but representative; other duties may be assigned).This position performs assigned tasks/responsibilities in accordance with supervisor instruction, assigned schedule, and College policy and procedure. Appropriate protective equipment and safety standards must be utilized at all times in this work area. Provide support for RAC events, meetings, and classrooms through daily cleaning, logistical setup, teardown, and furniture moving. Responsibilities include but are not limited to
  • Perform cleaning procedures for applicable service area including bathrooms, locker rooms, hallways, carpet, gym wood floors, stairwells, elevator, service corridors, labs, classrooms, weight rooms, trash collection, etc.
  • Perform carpet, floor, upholstery cleaning.
  • Clean building entrances including sidewalks, mats, carpet, glass, metal surfaces, corners, floors, etc.
  • Clean office areas including floors, walls, doors, door hardware, wastebaskets, and baseboards.
  • Conduct spot treatment of carpet and upholstery in their specific cleaning areas.
  • Clean corridors, lobbies, and lounges including sweeping, vacuuming floors, baseboards, spot cleaning carpet, drinking fountains, furniture, drapes, blinds, etc.
  • Provide cleaning, setup, and teardown for athletic events
  • Install, remove, cleaning special wood floor covering and store.
  • Provide transportation, setup, teardown, and storage of furniture and equipment for athletic events, special events, and projects.
  • Move furniture, boxes, equipment, and similar items to meet the specifications or needs of the applicable events.
  • Pickup, transport, and deliver equipment, materials and/or supplies.
  • Provide custodial services in support and during athletic events, special events and projects.
Assist the custodial setup team in accomplishing event setup objectives by performing necessary setup tasks, including, but not limited to
  • Support and perform snow removal as needed.
  • Assist with the moving and setup of furniture for event setup and campus needs.
  • Effectively communicate with team members, peers, and managers through use of two-way radios, email, phone and in person.
  • Notify necessary supervisor, Campus Safety, or department of safety/security concerns, damaged facilities, inoperable equipment, or general maintenance/repair needs.
  • Operate college vehicles in course of completing duties and for transportation to various campus buildings.
Other tasks may be assigned based on contemporary institutional need.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of cleaning methods, safety precautions, techniques and proper use of materials and equipment.
  • Knowledge and ability with personal computing applications – specifically Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint), Adobe products (e.g., Reader, Professional).
  • Knowledge of basic office equipment including (but not limited to) personal computer and associated peripherals, fax machine, multi-line telephone, voice recorders, and other electronic devices.
  • Skills and abilities to perform as an organized, self-starter.
  • Excellent customer service skills; ability to communicate clearly with a variety of people, in one-to-one and small group settings – either face-to-face, by telephone, or by other electronic means – ability to communicate in an informative manner, effectively listen, and be able to handle escalating situations with concern and confidence.
  • Adapt to a variable work schedule; including night shifts, evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Comply with highly inflexible deadlines; there will be multiple occurrences of sudden, urgent task completion required.
  • Ability to properly use cleaning chemicals, equipment, and personal safety equipment.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional working relationships with co-workers, faculty, staff, students, and the general public.
  • Ability to support time-based requests; able to function effectively in a multi-tasking, fast-paced environment with deadlines, frequent interruptions, and some interpersonal pressure.
  • Ability to effectively and professionally execute the essential functions of this position with proven capabilities in establishing appropriate professional rapport, communicating with courtesy and tact, and follow-through when requested.

  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; a team lift technique is required for lifts exceeding 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to read and interpret building and shift schedules, directions for equipment, hazardous material labels, Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and chemical labels.
  • Frequent and prolonged use/exposure to cleaning chemicals, exposure to dust, and potential exposure to bodily fluids and blood borne pathogens; Personal Protective Equipment and safety procedures must be utilized as required.
  • Able to function in an environment with substantial latex and/or nitrile material exposure and without an allergic reaction.
  • The overall work environment requires the mental ability to shift focal point quickly due to interruptions; an employee must be able to mentally track multiple projects and tasking as well.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate; however, there may be unexpected instances of somewhat loud sounds.
  • Ability to effectively listen and perceive the nature of sounds and spoken words at normal speaking levels with or without correction.

  • Knowledge of athletics facility cleaning and setups.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to meet the college’s insurance carrier requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • One year of custodial experience preferred.
  • One year of athletic facility experience.
