  • This is a Faculty B, 10-month (187 duty days) position.

Salary and Benefits: This is a full-time, benefited Faculty B, 8 level position. Starting salary range: $79,991.00 - $93,323.00/annually, depending upon experience.

JOB SUMMARY Core Responsibilities Include:

The dental hygiene faculty member is responsible for the coordination, planning, presentation, and evaluation of classroom instruction and related activities. The faculty member is responsible for performing assigned duties during the day, evening, or weekend on any Laramie County Community College campus or outreach center as assigned. At a minimum, the related activities include instruction; instructional counseling; academic advising; serving on various committees; coordinating and/or participating in school-based community events and service-learning activities and participating in local, state, regional, or national professional activities and organizations.

Essential Functions:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: - this position is E xempt, i.e., is not eligible for compensatory or overtime pay provisions of the FLSA.

  • Deliver quality instruction by preparing and implementing effective and inclusive teaching strategies and supportive learning activities as supported by student outcomes.
  • Provide service to the College by engaging in activities that support, stimulate and sustain the institution and community.
  • Engage in professional development to maintain relevancy in field through research, publications, presentations, professional association memberships, and conference attendance.

Other tasks that may be assigned based on contemporary institutional need.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge

  • Customer and Personal Service Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Mechanical Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.

Skills

  • Conflict Management Use of tools, skills and processes to find respectful and creative ways to resolve disputes and disagreements.
  • Monitoring - Monitoring/Assessing performance of yourself, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action.

  • Troubleshooting - Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.

Abilities

  • Finger Dexterity The ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects.

  • Manual Dexterity The ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.

  • Reaction Time The ability to quickly respond (with the hand, finger, or foot) to a signal (sound, light, picture) when it appears.

  • Time Sharing - The ability to shift back and forth between two or more activities or sources of information.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS

  • To successfully perform the essential functions of this position, an employee must be able to maintain appropriate composure and necessary confidentiality with regard to both past and current employee, student, and donor data; documents; issues; etc., and respect privacy needs of employees, students, donors
  • The ability to comply with highly inflexible deadlines is required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position; there will be multiple occurrences of sudden, urgent task completion required
  • While performing the essential functions of this position a variable work schedule may be required including long workdays, evenings, and weekends as needed
  • There may be occurrences of interacting with employees and/or students, past employees and/or students, members of the general public, and others who express opinions, may exhibit strong emotions, which will require the employee to interact professionally, diplomatically, and appropriately in such situations
  • While performing the essential duties of this position, an employee would frequently be required to move around the assigned work areas as well as within hallways, meeting rooms, and other parts of the campus facilities
  • There may be multiple/daily instances of prolonged sitting, standing, and personal computer use, which would include keyboard and/or mouse usage as well as viewing a computer monitor
  • An employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds to perform essential position functions
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
  • The overall work environment requires the mental ability to shift focal point quickly due to interruptions; an employee must be able to mentally track multiple projects and tasking as well
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate; however, there may be unexpected instances of somewhat loud sounds

Qualifications:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree dental hygiene or related field
  • Equivalent of three years full-time dental hygiene clinical experience
  • Current Wyoming dental hygiene license or eligibility to obtain Wyoming License
  • Healthcare Provider CPR Certification

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters in Dental Hygiene, Public Health or related degree, can be currently enrolled in a Masters degree program with satisfactory progression
  • Five years full-time dental hygiene clinical experience
  • Public health experience
  • Clinic supervision experience
  • Certification to administer local anesthesia, laser, and nitrous oxide
  • Meet immunization requirements for clinical sites
  • Experience with online instruction
