Salary and Benefits: This is a full-time, benefited Professional l level position. Starting wage range: $42,504.00 - $48,048.00/annually, depending upon experience.

Job Summary: Core responsibilities of this position include:

The Teacher, Children’s Discovery Center position is a full-time benefited position responsible for functioning as the primary and lead teacher in the assigned classroom; responsible for daily operation, planning, scheduling and supervision of the respective classroom working in partnership with Associate Teachers and CDC Director to provide a developmentally appropriate pre-school program utilizing approved curriculum resources. Teachers are expected to act as mentors for any LCCC or University of Wyoming, or any college students coming to their classrooms for observations or internships.

Essential Functions

Essential Functions: – this position is Non-exempt, i.e., is not eligible for compensatory or overtime pay provisions of the FLSA. This listing of essential duties is not all-inclusive, but representative; other duties may be assigned).

  • Utilizing active supervision to ensure the safety of all children and foster a sense of trust and well-being among children and their parents by supervising young children at all times, including in the classroom, on the playground, and during walks, and promoting a safe and secure environment to minimize the risk of accidents or injuries.
  • Help all children grow and develop socially, emotionally, physically, and cognitively by providing developmentally appropriate activities and lessons and ensuring well-rounded foundation for future learning and personal growth. Providing valuable insights for individualized learning plans by completing formal and informal assessments.
  • Ensure the successful implementation of the goals and objectives of the Children’s Discovery Center by working collaboratively and communicating effectively with other teaching staff and administrators, leading to a cohesive educational environment and enhanced outcomes for all children.
  • Ensure families are well-informed about their children’s progress and development by initiating and maintaining effective communication to support and enhance the children’s educational experience.
  • Ensure the facility meets high standards of educational quality, support continuous improvement, and retains its accredited status by initiating, maintaining and updating accreditation portfolios required by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) for visits every 5 years.
  • Enhance professional development by contributing to staff and college in-service training sessions and other training opportunities to ensure staff are well-equipped with current knowledge and skills, and to foster a culture of continuous improvement and growth within the organization.

Physical/Mental Demands:

  • To successfully perform the essential functions of this position, an employee must be able to maintain appropriate composure and necessary confidentiality with regard to both past and current employee, student, and donor data; documents; issues; etc., and respect privacy needs of employees, students, donors
  • The ability to comply with highly inflexible deadlines is required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position; there will be multiple occurrences of sudden, urgent task completion required
  • While performing the essential functions of this position a variable work schedule may be required including long workdays, evenings, and weekends as needed

  • The overall work environment requires the mental ability to shift focal point quickly due to interruptions; an employee must be able to mentally track multiple projects and tasking as well

Qualifications

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in child development – early education, education, or a closely related field of study.
  • Ability to meet requirements of Wyoming Department of Family Services including but not limited to background check, tuberculosis test and current proficiency in CPR and first aid.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in child development – early education, education or a closely related field of study.
  • Two years of instruction in early childhood education.
