Then our Community Justice Worker Temp position is for you!The Community Justice Worker Temp position is a great way to get your foot in the door with Community Justice Alternatives and provides invaluable knowledge of our processes! Many of our temp workers are eventually promoted into our full-time Community Justice Specialist positions, so this is a great place to start for part-time work, with the possibility of being promoted to full-time after graduation or when your obligations are free up for full-time employment. In this position, you could be assigned to any of the following units: Community Corrections Department - an agency that works to reintegrate felony clients into the local community.Alternative Sentencing's Pretrial Unit -an agency that supervises and monitors people before they are sentenced.Alternative Sentencing's Work Release - a residential program that allows clients sentenced to County Jail time to serve ordered days while working or attending school.Working in any of these units would give you direct experience working with clients in a criminal justice setting. Work tasks could include assisting with drug/alcohol screening, providing emergency and/or court transportation services, or various tasks to support each unit.See us in action with a tour of our facility. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Specifically, this position: Exercises direct supervision over clients.Conducts orientations to new clients to explain facility and/or program rules and procedures.Monitors the safety and security of the facility and controls contraband including conducting searches of clients and living areas; conducting security checks of the facility, facility perimeter, windows, doors, and work areas; conducts checks of client possessions, mail, and visitors; and supervises visits.Collects urinalysis samples, completes appropriate paperwork, and submits samples for drug testing; administers alcohol tests.Maintains client accountability by conducting periodic formal counts, checking inmates in/out of the facility, conducting phone or on-site checks of client locations, and conducting random monitoring of client activities.Investigate minor and major program violations; write incident reports; determine and carry out appropriate sanctions up to and including revocation and return to a more secure detention facility; prepare reports and recommendations.Monitors and/or dispenses inmate medications.Performs administrative and record-keeping duties supporting the program; documents client behavior and program activities; maintains client records; processes various billing and program and related agency documents.Performs other duties as appropriate or necessary for the performance of the job. As marijuana is an illegal substance under federal law, testing positive for marijuana (medical or otherwise) or any other substance for which the county tests will result in the contingent offer of employment being revoked. Successful completion of the drug screen is defined as obtaining a negative result.
