Larimer County is Hiring a Grant Project Specialist Near Fort Collins, CO

The Larimer County Sheriff's Office is seeking an experienced Grant Project Specialist to join our team and support various programs through effective grant management. You will manage the entire grant lifecycle, from researching funding opportunities to ensuring compliance and timely submissions with successful project implementation.
In this role, you will collaborate with departments to develop and submit grant proposals, and gather necessary data for applications. You will maintain a calendar of submissions, cultivate relationships with grantors, and strategize on fund development from diverse sources. Your responsibilities will include coordinating teams to ensure effective implementation of funded projects, tracking grant projects, preparing financial reports, and assisting project managers with financial information. Being familiar with grant regulations, compliance requirements, and reporting procedures at all levels is crucial.
Your ability to build and sustain strong working relationships with Larimer County staff, peer organizations, and community partners is essential as you will attend necessary meetings and maintain comprehensive grant documentation. In addition, you should have knowledge of general office practices, routine software applications, and the ability to read and comprehend department and County policies.
We are looking for a curious individual who has mastered balancing multiple tasks and deadlines. Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree, or equivalent education, in Communications, Marketing, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field, along with three years of experience in research or public administration, including grant administration and writing. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered. Reliable transportation is required, and candidates must be at least 18 years old.

The starting salary range for this position is $59,968 to $71,962.ResponsibilitiesThe following statements are illustrative of the duties and responsibilities of the job. The organization retains the right to modify or change the duties and responsibilities of the job at any time.
Essential Functions
  • Researches and identifies grant funding opportunities and sources.
  • Works collaboratively with department or Office staff and partnering departments and communities to develop, write and submit grant proposals, applications, and supporting documents for major and minor grant programs related to county work, as well as government, foundation, and other grants in targeted work areas, and other project categories as requested and/or needed.
  • Coordinates with internal teams to gather information, data, and statistics required for grant applications.
  • Maintains a calendar of grant submissions and other deadlines; remains in contact with grant-making organizations in order to be able to supply additional supportive material.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with grantors, foundations, and other funding sources.
  • Identifies, strategizes, cultivates, and develops opportunities and proposals for fund development from organizations, agencies, and private donors and/or corporations and foundations for department or Office projects.
  • Coordinates various teams, both internally and externally, to provide and receive feedback.
  • Collaborates with program managers, project teams, and relevant stakeholders to ensure effective implementation of funded projects.
  • Tracks and reports for grant projects and programs, prepares grant project/program financial reports; maintains and reconciles grant project/program cost reports; assists grant project/program manager with financial information; attends to project/program manager’s queries regarding project/program reports/budgets.

  • Coordinates manages, tracks, evaluates grant projects, and provides reports and presentations to a variety of internal and external stakeholders, including the department or Office leadership team.
  • Assists with grant research, coordination, and outreach; facilitates the process of moving from planning to implementation of community projects; assists with identifying unmet needs in the community.
  • Develops and maintains a grant database; responds to inquiries about grants.
  • Works collaboratively and maintains effective working relationships with other members of the Larimer County organization, peer organizations, and community partners.
  • Attends stakeholder, community, and other meetings or task force groups as required.
  • Maintains grant related documentation and records including contracts, agreements, reporting requirements, and meeting notes in accordance with all applicable laws and rules.
Nonessential Functions
  • When a local declaration of emergency or disaster is declared by the Board of Commissioners, all Larimer County employees may be required to work as a Disaster Service Worker.
  • Performs other duties as appropriate or necessary for performance of the job.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent education, from an accredited college or university with a degree in Communications, Marketing, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field required. Equivalency is based on one (1) year of professional experience equaling one year of college work.
  • Three (3) years of experience in research or public administration, including experience in grant administration, grant management, grant coordination, obtaining funding for grants projects and programs, and grant writing required. One (1) year of professional experience may be equivalent to a combination of education and experience.
  • Possess reliable transportation to be able to work at various locations as needed and required.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
