JOB SITE: Las Lomitas Elementary School and La Entrada Middle School

District contributes $940.67 per month towards health & welfare benefits. District offers medical plans through CalPERS, dental coverage through Delta Dental and vision through Vision Service Plan. A stipend of $1,500 will be paid for a doctorate degree.

BASIC FUNCTION:

Under the general direction and supervision of the Director of Student Services, provides expertise and guidance to district staff regarding special education students, programs and services. Provides a variety of consultation and case conferencing services to parents and school staff. Is responsible for monitoring the academicand social progress of special education students as they move through the grades.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

● Meet with and provide guidance to site level teams regarding Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Individual Transition Plans (ITPs).

● Provide consultation and case conferencing services for teachers and administrators.

● Provide information to staff, students and/or parents regarding appropriate school programs, community agencies, or individuals for specialized assistance and maintain a liaison relationship with resource personnel when necessary.

● Provide case management and oversight for students who are referred to or who receive services from Non-Public Agencies and Non-Public Schools.

● Participate, as appropriate, on committees responsible for testing, student placement, and promotion/retention decisions.

● Provide in-service workshops and/or training to teachers, aides, and administrators.

● Consult, coordinate, and act as a resource in the area of curriculum modifications, accommodations and differentiation for special education students.

● Provide consultation support to staff in providing least restrictive environments for special education students, including the integration and inclusion of special education students in the general education program.

● Provide instructional support to special education teachers, including materials and methodologies to enhance program delivery.

● Provide consultation to staff regarding assessment techniques (including alternative modes) and the interpretation of assessments conducted by outside evaluators.

● Assist Director in serving as an administrative designee at IEP meetings. Facilitates and provides leadership to teams at complicated IEP meetings.

● Coordinate discussion with Leadership and staff on school-based intervention plans that utilize tiered systems of intervention, curriculum and assessment data, the educational continuum and the compliance of IDEA services.

● Monitor private school students, assists with FAPE and Child Find activities.

● Perform other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Master’s Degree in one of the following disciplines: special education, psychology, or counseling and guidance.

Credentials: California Credential in one of the following areas: Special Education, School Psychologist, or Clinical Rehabilitation Services.

Desired, but not required: Administrative Services

Experience: Three or more years teaching and/or service in special education

(pre-school - grade 12). Desired, but not required: behavior intervention and or case management experience.

● Student assessment tools, test analysis and interpretation.

● Regular education programs and practices of differentiation, and the inclusion of special education students.

● The needs of students in special education for use in planning for and implementinginclusive placements.

● School-based tiered systems of intervention.

● Adapt and modify curriculum and instructional practices to accommodate special education students.

● Provide consultation and resources to district staff in both general education and special education programs.

● Provide consultation and resources to parents of special education students.

● Work effectively in a team environment with teachers and administrators.
