Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is Hiring a Polygraph Examiner - Part-Time ($28.37/hr) Near Las Vegas, NV

All LVMPD part time positions are limited to work 19 hours per week and 988 hours per year. Polygraph Examiner - Part-Time is paid at $28.37 an hour. The current schedule is Mondays and/or Fridays, 7:00 am - 4:00 pm. 
Definition
Incumbents provide polygraph services to include administration of pre-employment examinations for the LVMPD and other public agencies.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
This is a part-time position not subject to the competitive requirements of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Civil Service Rules. 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Receive direction from supervisory and management staff. 

Training, Education and Experience

Satisfactory completion of an accredited/recognized basic course of instruction in polygraph training AND
  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and 1 year of experience in investigation or polygraph examination; OR
  • An associate degree from an accredited college or university and 3 years of experience in investigation or polygraph examination; OR
  • A high school diploma or GED and 5 years of experience in investigation or polygraph examination
Best Candidates Will Have
  • Knowledge of Directed Lie Screening Test (DLST) and federally supported techniques.
  • Knowledge of Limestone polygraph examination equipment.
  • Knowledge of and ability to demonstrate effective interview techniques.
Conditions of Employment
In addition to the General Conditions of Employment, found here, the following specific conditions of employment and physical conditions apply to this position.
  1. Personal Appearance: While on duty, and/or representing the Department, uniformed or otherwise, all Department employees will be neat and clean in their appearance in public. Employees are prohibited from attaching, affixing, or displaying objects, articles or jewelry on or through the nose, tongue, eyebrow or other exposed body part, except the ears for females, while on duty. Employees are prohibited from stretching or "gauging" their earlobes. All jewelry implants will not be exposed or visible while on duty. Tattoos or branding will not be exposed or visible while on duty and/or representing the Department. Such markings must be covered by clothing. Markings that cannot be covered by clothing will be covered using neutral-toned bandages or patchesexcept for hands, neck, head, or face tattoos. Makeup is not permissible to cover a tattoo. Tattoos or branding anywhere on the body that promote racism/discrimination, indecency, extremist or supremacist philosophies, lawlessness, violence, or contain sexually explicit material are prohibited.
  2. Endurance sufficient to walk, stand, or sit for extended periods of time.
  3. Dexterity sufficient to operate small office equipment.
  4. Stooping, bending, reaching, lifting, pulling; and for operating computers and other office equipment.
  5. Vision sufficient for effective discrimination and perception for making observations and recognizing images.
  6. Strength and mobility sufficient to lift light items, such as equipment in the office.
  7. Hearing sufficient to hear conversations and directions in person and over the radio and the telephone.
