The Role in a Nutshell
The Associate Strategy Director is a digitally minded brand strategist with a passion for ensuring that the brand ethos comes to life through every corner of the end-to-end experience. This role will need to have planner skills to leverage research that identifies target insights and brand equities, combined with skills in building customer journey maps that can serve as the blueprint for identifying opportunities to pull those insight through and have meaningful impact at every touchpoint. Candidates must possess a thorough understanding of the digital ecosystem and how to leverage brand strategy to inspire digital activations, working hand-in-hand with our creative, media and connected experience teams to create a personal experience that builds brands.
Responsibilities
• Translate existing client business and new growth prospects into inspiring strategies, ranging
from creative inspiration and briefs, into omni-channel activations.
• Be a catalyst for the agency to forge new pathways to problem solving and be able to pull the
strategy through the entire creative process and customer experience from ideation,
execution and evaluation.
• Demonstrate the ability to marry big picture thinking with the ‘how’ – through roadmaps,
ecosystems, tactical plans etc.
• Be a bridge-builder and seamless collaborator with other critical teams across the agency –
media, creative, connected experiences (content, UI, UX), data and insights.
• Effectively conduct consumer and category research in many forms (auditing, interviews,
surveys, etc) that help guide effective strategic decision-making for clients.
• Be fluent in the utilization of a variety of data sources to help marry human insights with data
insights, and therefore inspire strategy and creative output while informing actionable
measurement plans.
• A self-starter who can champion projects from start to finish with a results-driven mindset in
pursuit of strong business results for clients and identify opportunities for optimization.
• Exhibits solid communication skills; can effectively present and facilitate workshops.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Relevant areas of study - Marketing, Advertising, Business,
Journalism, Statistics.
• 5 years of relevant industry experience leading and working with marketing teams with a
strong digital presence and digital activation experience.
• Agency background strongly preferred.
• Healthcare experience is a plus.
• Demonstrates ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment,
remaining positive and professional under pressure.
• Experience acting as a Lead Strategist on new pitches.
• Has a passion for research, digging for insights, understanding human and consumer
behavior, and an eagerness to learn.
• Experience driving strong, trusting relationships with client partners that lead to incremental
growth opportunities for accounts.
• Proven success putting connected stories together using the customer journey map as the
foundational inspiration.
• Must be based in Chicago or Milwaukee.
