LaunchDarkly is Hiring a Remote Head of User Experience

About the Job:

LaunchDarkly is seeking an experienced User Experience Design leader who’s excited to take ownership of the User Experience and Product design. You will be a key member of the Technology leadership team, reporting directly to the CPO. You will manage and lead our existing team of UX Designers and Researchers, shape our unified product design strategy, and lead future-forward and visionary design work. You will play a vital role in shaping and overseeing how our customers interact with our products, guiding the growth of the UX function as we scale into our next several products, working with stakeholders across the company, and always thinking customer-first. This role requires an experienced designer and product-thinker who can collaborate across departments to drive customer-centric product decisions.

Responsibilities:

  • Leadership: Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of UX/UI designers and researchers. Foster a collaborative and creative work environment. Foster a design culture that encourages rapid design experimentation and strong collaboration across product, engineering, and the business.

  • Strategy: Develop and implement the overall design strategy in alignment with the company's vision and goals. Ensure a cohesive and innovative design language across all products.

  • Design Execution: Streamline the design process from concept to launch, ensuring high-quality design solutions that meet user needs and setting the standard to maximize the speed of design iterations.

  • Customer-first: Engage with customers and prospects directly to cultivate a deep understanding of our customer’s needs and pain points, bring these findings back to your team, and create a product interface that customers love.

  • User Research: Champion user research and usability testing to inform design decisions. Use data and user feedback to continuously improve the user experience.

  • Innovation & Vision: Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices. Drive innovation and creative solutions to enhance our product offerings. Create future-forward and visionary design solutions for our products.

  • Metrics & Analysis: Define and track design KPIs to measure the effectiveness of design solutions. Use metrics to drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: 10 years of experience in User Experience / Product design, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.

  • Portfolio: A strong portfolio showcasing a range of product design work, including web and mobile applications, with a focus on developer tools and platforms.

  • Skills: Proficiency in design tools like Figma, Adobe Creative Suite. Proficiency in product analytics tools like Amplitude, Mixpanel, Fullstory. Strong understanding of user-centered design principles and methodologies.

  • Leadership: Proven track record of leading and managing design teams. Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

  • Collaboration: Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment. Strong project management and organizational skills.

  • Technical Understanding: Familiarity with developer tools, workflows, and environments. Ability to understand and design for the technical needs of developer users.

  • Innovation: Passion for design and innovation. Ability to think strategically and drive creative solutions.

Pay:

Target pay range for a Level E1: $250,000 - $340,000* 

*Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), health, vision, and dental insurance, and mental health benefits in addition to salary.
