Qualifications:
  • Current Kansas licensure in assigned grade level
  • Experience teaching Lawrence Public Schools curriculum preferred
  • Master’s degree preferred
Reports to: Building Principal
Job Goal:
Provide direct support to school staff (in conjunction with coaching team and building administration) for ongoing improvement of teaching and learning programs focused on district goals through coaching, modeling, mentoring, collaboration, implementation, and support of district curriculum and instruction.
Performance and Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate/participate in the district’s curriculum review processes designed to provide, seek, and create quality curriculum and instruction resources, including electronic format
  • Support staff in enriching the learning environment with instructional technology
  • Facilitate/participate in curriculum leadership meetings with content specific staff
  • Communicate and facilitate the implementation of the approved curriculum to the teaching staff
  • Stay current with curricular and instructional trends
  • Help create a high performance work system by fostering open communication and feedback with Learning and Leadership members
  • Identify and implement procedures for conflict resolution and team building to enhance morale and productivity
  • Provide staff development opportunities to culturally relevant/responsible teaching, Comprehensive, Integrated, Three-Tired (Ci3T) systems of support and blended personalized learning
  • Provide staff development opportunities in regards to curriculum and instruction based on building and principal request
  • Collaborate with building administrator and school leadership teams to advance building and district initiatives
  • Communicate effectively the district’s goals to a variety of stakeholders
  • Participate in Professional Learning Communities at the building and district level
  • Continue to build individual and team knowledge and skills including but not limited to curriculum, instruction, equity, student intervention and technology
  • Participate in district-wide initiative seminar
  • Build trusting relationships with coaching team, education staff, and building administrators
  • Maintain a confidential, collegial relationship with all staff
  • Mentor and support new staff members
  • Differentiate building and teacher support based on individual and building needs
  • Provide reflective feedback to teachers
  • Align instruction and assessment with district curriculum and goals
  • Analyze student achievement data at the district and building level
  • Translate data into meaningful instructional practices for teaching staff
  • Analyze the success of instructional strategies and materials
  • Provide support to administrators during building-level and district-level professional development days
  • Co-plan and co-teach and model lessons that emphasize effective instructional strategies
  • Encourage participation in and reflection on professional growth activities
  • Provide innovative and energizing professional growth that is evidence-based and matched to teacher needs
  • Serve as a resource, collaborative problem-solver, and liaison to buildings
  • Participate in curriculum development programs as required

  • Perform job responsibilities using appropriate software on district computer system and communications equipment

  • Speak clearly to various groups expressing ideas in a logical and forthright manner
  • Possess composition skills suitable for producing a variety of written communication
  • Demonstrate positive attitudes toward the education profession and maintain positive relationships with district employees
  • Keep student and personnel information and records confidential
  • Effective interpersonal and leadership skills; experience with conflict resolution, facilitating communication between divergent groups and in group decision-making
  • Observe and follow all school district policies at all times
  • Travel as needed
  • Perform other tasks and assume other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the superintendent or designee

Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
Length of Contract: Certified contract additional days based on assignment
