Lawyers For Children is seeking a full-time detailed-oriented Legal Administrative Assistant to join our team.
Candidate must have these essential capabilities:
- Patience and calm in stressful situations
- Ability to relate to all young clients and their families in a compassionate and culturally and emotionally sensitive manner
- Prior experience with a multi-line phone system and routing messages to multiple staff phone extensions
- Ability to multi-task while handling incoming calls, in-person office visitors, etc.
- Ability to represent organization in an ethical and professional manner
Essential administrative functions include, but are not limited to:
- Answer and respond to phone inquiries in a courteous and helpful manner
- Greet clients and visitors in a professional and courteous manner
- Handle daily communication with court personnel via phone and email quickly and accurately
- Use organization’s cloud-based client management software in connection with phone inquiries and court communications
- Sort and distribute incoming mail as well as prepare outgoing mail for courier service - Maintain a neat and clean reception area -Assist with lunch set up for staff meetings
Legal Assistant duties include but are not limited to:
-Perform conflict checks, update client intake information, etc.
- Assist with the up-keep of client and law library
- Assist in the preparation of documents for court filings - Briefs, AOS, Motions, Stipulation, etc.
- Assist with duplicating and binding of documents
- Enter data as needed to maintain various office records and databases
- Provide additional day-to-day clerical and reception assistance as required (cross-training in all administrative requirements will be provided)
-Provide reception relief
Qualifications/Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree (with at least 2 years of customer service experience in a professional environment). In lieu of 4-year college degree, candidates with 3 years or more of relevant professional office experience will be considered
- Proficiency with Mac computers/networks
- Fluency with Microsoft and Excel applications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong multi-tasking and prioritization skills
- Ability to work and collaborate with support staff team
- Bilingual (Spanish) preferred
