Position Summary : Seeking a talented BI Developer (mid-level) to join our IT Software Development Services (ITSS) team. The ideal candidate will have solid experience in data visualization, Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) development, SQL, and data warehouse management. This role requires strong communication and collaboration abilities, as well as a good understanding of compliance standards and troubleshooting techniques. The Mid-Level BI Developer will contribute to the creation of effective BI solutions, ensuring data accuracy, and providing valuable insights to support organizational decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize business intelligence tools such as Microsoft Power BI, Qlik, and Tableau to develop interactive visualizations. Create dashboards and reports that provide insights to support data-driven decision-making.

  • Design and execute ETL processes using tools like Microsoft SSIS and Hitachi Pentaho. Develop and manage ETL jobs to integrate data from various sources, applying transformations and conditional logic to maintain data accuracy and integrity.

  • Develop and optimize T-SQL queries and stored procedures, incorporating techniques such as permissioning, indexing, and managing data relationships. Maintain and document Data Dictionaries to support system integrity and usability.

  • Analyze business requirements and existing systems to design and model efficient database schemas. Provide recommendations on data organization and architecture to support visualization and reporting capabilities.

  • Assist in the management and optimization of the organization’s data warehouse, ensuring the creation, organization, and documentation of data relationships and views. Facilitate data analysis and reporting through effective data warehouse practices.

  • Participate in educational sessions for the client, providing meeting agendas and live demonstrations to inform staff about developments and features in the BI domain.

  • Ensure that all visualizations meet U.S. 508 Compliance standards. Review and modify visualizations to ensure accessibility, inclusivity, and compliance with federal regulations.

  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to refine and iterate on business intelligence solutions. Serve as a liaison between stakeholders to clarify and articulate application design and implementation.

  • Utilize troubleshooting techniques to diagnose and resolve technical issues. Use analytical tools to debug and analyze data, ensuring the reliability and performance of BI solutions.

  • Apply critical and strategic thinking skills to solve problems. Break down issues logically for consideration by development teams or clients, contributing to innovative BI solutions that meet organizational needs.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of progressively responsible experience in BI development and data analysis.

  • Experience in building and implementing model-driven, enterprise-level business solutions.

  • Proficiency in various stages of the software development lifecycle, including design, configuration, testing, debugging, implementation, and support for large-scale, business-oriented applications.

  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Microsoft Power BI, Qlik, or Tableau.

  • Experience in ETL processes using tools like Microsoft SSIS or Hitachi Pentaho.

  • Strong SQL skills, including developing and optimizing queries and stored procedures.

  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to engage with stakeholders, both internal and external.

  • Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies and understanding of Agile principles and practices.

  • Experience using Azure DevOps tools and contributing to Scrum team dynamics is a plus.

  • Ability to comprehend complex business requirements and resolve challenges effectively in client-facing positions.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field.

  • Relevant certifications in BI development tools and methodologies (e.g., Microsoft Power BI, Tableau) are highly desirable.

Compensation and Benefits

The projected compensation range for this position is $89,113 to $126,088 per year benchmarked in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. Salary at LCG is determined by various factors, including but not limited to role, location, the combination of education/training, knowledge, skills, competencies, certifications, and work experience.
