Position Description:

We are seeking a Director of Finance and Accounting, who will oversee all financial operations and reporting for the company, ensuring compliance with government contracting regulations and financial best practices. This role is critical for the financial health and strategic planning of the company, supporting growth and ensuring efficient financial management in alignment with organizational goals.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Financial Leadership and Strategy:

  • Works in partnership with the Head of Finance and Accounting to develop and implement financial strategies to support the company’s mission and long-term goals.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the finance team, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.
  • Advise senior management on financial planning, budgeting, and financial risks.

2. Financial Operations and Reporting:

  • Oversee all accounting operations including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll, and General Ledger.
  • Ensure accurate and timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Manage the annual financial statement audit and coordinate the provision of information to external auditors.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process and periodic forecasting activities.
  • Implement and maintain robust financial controls and procedures to safeguard assets and enhance accuracy of financial reports.

3. Government Contract Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with all government contracting regulations, including FAR, DFARS, CAS, and DCAA requirements.
  • Manage the preparation and submission of incurred cost submissions and other regulatory filings.
  • Oversee audits and reviews by government agencies and ensure timely and accurate responses.

4. Cost Management and Analysis:

  • Develop and maintain cost accounting systems that ensure accurate cost tracking and reporting for government contracts.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings.
  • Manage the indirect cost pool structure.
  • Provide financial analysis to support pricing strategies and contract negotiations.

5. Financial Systems and Technology:

  • Serve as a SaaS Administrator for Deltek Costpoint and T&E
  • Evaluate and implement financial systems and software to streamline operations and improve data accuracy.
  • Ensure the finance team is trained and proficient in the use of financial systems.

6. Team Leadership and Development:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team.
  • Establish goals and performance metrics for the finance department.
  • Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment.

7. Risk Management:

  • Identify financial and operational risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Ensure adequate insurance coverage and risk management strategies are in place.

Requirements:

  1. Education and Certifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or related field. Master’s degree or CPA preferred.
  1. Experience:
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in finance or accounting roles.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a senior financial leadership role within the government contracting industry.
  • Proven track record in financial planning and analysis, budgeting, and cost management.
  1. Technical Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of government contracting regulations (FAR, DFARS, CAS).
  • Proficiency in financial management systems (e.g., Deltek Costpoint, or similar).
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling.
  1. Leadership and Communication:
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a diverse team.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach to working within cross-functional teams.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
  • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
  • Strong focus on process improvement to drive efficiencies and mitigate risks.
  • Demonstrated skill in handling fast paced and often competing pressures on one's time.

Compensation and Benefits

The projected compensation range for this position is $160,000 to $190,000 per year benchmarked in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. Salary at LCG is determined by various factors, including but not limited to role, location, the combination of education/training, knowledge, skills, competencies, certifications, and work experience.
