We seek an enthusiastic and capable Sommelier to join our exceptional team of service leaders. This role is responsible for always providing prompt and friendly food and beverage service to our guests by following the Restaurant Brand Standard. This role will set the stage for the experience a guest will have and will be responsible for the guest experience by providing prompt, attentive table service and by being all - knowing regarding our menu, beverage, and wine offerings.
The Sommelier is energetic, enthusiastic, highly motivated and passionate about hospitality, food and beverage. This role is an ambassador of the wine program, ensuring that each guest receives the best service and guidance/ information regarding their wine selection. Working under the Beverage Manager, the Sommelier is also involved with development and management of the wine program, including the maintenance of the wine list and the wine cellar, the creation and the implementation of training materials and the management of inventories and cost control.
Your Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for guiding the guest through the dining experience and contributing to overall success of team and operation.
  • Work with sense of urgency to properly manage time and resources to balance the guest experience and the needs of the restaurant 
  • Demonstrating a passion for details and a willingness to learn 
  • Present wine list to the guest, answer questions and make suggestions regarding wine. 
  • Ensure all guest wine orders are accurately entered to POS on correct check. 
  • Work with all FOH team to expedite and provide excellent service to all guests; assist members and guests during the dinner services with wine recommendations and selection for perfect pairing with their meal, decanting of the wine and wine service. 
  • Ensure that all wine is served in proper glassware and in proper condition 
  • Maintain wine levels for all guests, and proactively suggest additional selections 
  • Maintain coordination with table pacing, and section maintenance in conjunction with servers and managers. 
  • Is responsible for knowledge of all menu items, preparations, and able to describe every product and menu offering. 
  • Full awareness of allergens and potential substitutions. 
  • Responsible of the wine list/inventory. Ensuring that the 86’d and low count list is updated on daily/weekly basis. Participate in training program for new hires as well as continuing education to ensure firm beverage knowledge across the team. 
  • Works in conjunction with the Wine Director and the Executive Chef to create food and wine pairings 
  • Must be pleasant, conscientious, and professional to colleagues and guests 
  • Must be able to operate effectively as part of a team, communicate clearly, and ensure smooth service operations and quality service 
  • Take part in monthly inventory and return accurate and organized information; Receive and stock product 
  • In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position requires to perform occasionally some supportive functions of service, including and not limited to taking food orders, deliver food and beverage items from kitchen and the service bar per brand standards and fills in other areas of service when necessary. 
  • Provide all appropriate paperwork such as signed guest receipts, manager voids, etc. at end of each shift. 
  • Complete all opening, mid, and closing procedures. Complete daily checklist and daily side work assignments. 
  • Handles any complaints with genuine concern and elevates to manager at all times. 
  • Must be willing to develop other employees’ skills and work as a team player 
  • Provide information to management to update guest profiles in reservation system. 
  • Provide each guest with a friendly welcome and farewell to ensure a positive and memorable visit.

Your Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years professional service experience working in establishment of similar caliber 
  • High School Diploma, or equivalent level of education, required (Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure) 
  • Wine Education Certification Preferred. Associate’s Degree in Hospitality or equivalent Certification preferred. 
  • Food Handlers Safety Certificate Preferred 
  • Ability to read, speak and interpret documents in clear English. 
  • Must be able to exert well-paced ability in limited space and to reach other locations of the restaurant in a timely basis. 
  • Must be able to multi-task and manage in high volume, and high stress environments. 
  • Must have manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment. 
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule. (including nights, weekends, and holidays) 
  • Must to reach, bend, stoop, and stretch. Can frequently lift up to 30 pounds, as well as work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 10 hours).
