Job Summary:
The Controller is a hands on position with a strong understanding of cost accounting and physical inventory procedures. The ideal candidate will have an in-depth knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and is responsible for directing, coordinating, maintaining, and controlling an accounting system that properly reflects the financial position of Le Vigne Winery. As Controller, you will be responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of our organization and ensuring compliance with accounting principles and regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
· Manage the month-end and year-end closing processes, including preparation of journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations and accruals.
· Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements and cash flow statements.
· Oversee the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
· Perform account reconciliations and account analysis.
· Responsible for human resources and administering employee benefits.
· Collaborate cross-functionally with other departments to provide financial insights and analysis for decision-making.
· Monitor cash flow, manage banking relationships, and optimize working capital.
· Analyze general ledger and other business data for accuracy and dependability.
· Assists in the development and implementation of goals, policies, priorities, and procedures relating to financial management, budget, accounting, and/or payroll.
· Directs the installation and maintenance of accounting records to show receipts and expenditures.
· Directs the maintenance of general and subsidiary ledgers, accounts receivable, revenue distribution, depreciation, cost, property, and operating expenses, and insurance records.
· Directs internal audits involving review of accounting and administrative controls.
· Directs the installation and maintenance of new accounting, timekeeping, payroll, inventory, property and other related procedures and controls.
Qualifications
· Prior experience as a Controller or in a similar executive financial role, preferably in the wine industry
· Strong understanding of winey financial management, including cost accounting, inventory management and pricing strategies
· Knowledge of AMS a plus
· Excellent leadership and communication skills
· Strategic thinker with the ability to balance hands-on operational task with long-term planning
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Two years cost accounting experience.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations CPA or CMA preferred
