The Building Science Specialist acts as a program's technical expert by supporting residential energy efficiency and conservation programs. This includes reviewing energy audit documents, determining energy performance of existing homes, evaluating existing appliances against energy efficiency standards, develop/review home energy models through specialized software and tools, generate work orders to contractors and make offers to customers eligible and approved energy measures. Compare specifications of existing home appliances and heating systems against energy efficiency standards. Review and log energy audit results in Salesforce. Uses standard building science principles to support energy efficiency savings analysis (e.g., physics, mechanics, fan laws, thermodynamics, algebra, statistics). Uses heat loss modelling tools to determine and communicate home insulation opportunities and work orders to insulators. Reviews weatherization, HVAC, and home appliance specifications/manuals. Post-secondary degree in Building Science, Engineering/Engineering Technology or related program. Knowledgeable in heat transfer fundamentals and principles. Knowledge or experience using home energy modelling software (HOT2000) required.
