Leap Ahead Preschool of Boise is looking to hire a dedicated an experienced preschool teacher with a minimum of 5 years experience.

The position will be managing the full day preschool classroom while the owner is in charge of curriculum and curriculum instruction in the mornings. Candidate will be in charge of the care of the children and the upkeep of the classroom. The room also has an assistant and has up to 20 children. Candidate must be able to lead when the owner is out.

The hours currently needed are between the hours of 8:15am-4:45pm but may change to 7:45-4:15, must be flexible to work either of these shifts as needed.

We believe the single most important thing that distinguishes a high quality preschool from an average one is the relationships the teachers have with the students. Teachers who are able to have fun, be silly, interact with the kids, and get down and play. Must be able to meet the social/emotional needs of children.

No staff children are allowed at this time.

Teachers must be able to work hard, lift up to 40 pounds. Lots of cleaning and organizing are part of the job description. Teachers are on their feet cleaning up toys, cleaning up meals, cleaning up from art... Please don't apply to this position if you are looking for a sit down or slow paced job. You must be self motivated and jump in and do what needs done. This is an ideal position for someone who is very energetic and whom thrives in fast paced environments. Must be able to work quickly to keep up a busy group of kids.

Must be able to conduct a fun circle time for up to 20 preschool children with games, songs, dancing, puppets, finger plays, felts, zoo phonics, story time ect...

Teachers are asked to have a professional dress and appearance to be viewed as teachers.

Leap Ahead believes outdoor play is a critical component of child development. We take children out until about 20-25 degrees, staff must be willing and able to take children to play outdoors even in the snow! Bundling kids up is a big task, but makes for happy and healthy children at Leap Ahead. Snow is a magical experience for children, staff must be willing to take children out to enjoy the magic. During mild weather preschool students spend about 2.5-3 hours per day outside, toddlers 2 hours. Children do stay indoors when weather becomes too wet, hot or cold and teachers are required to supplement with large motor indoor activities.

Leap Ahead has a strict no drama policy, teachers are to refrain from gossip and negative talk of other coworkers. This is a must and teachers will face disciplinary action for not following this policy. No one wants to work in a toxic environment!

Pay depends on experience. Higher rates are for those with experience in preschool teaching: babysitting, nannying and working in centers without curriculum will not be eligible for pay above $16 per hour. You must have actual preschool instruction experience for pay at $17-$19 an hour. New hires will be required to obtain a Boise City Child Care license. To start must obtain the temporary license, which can take about 2 weeks. We can assist with the licensing process. Upon hire training will be required depending on experience, staff often participate in 10-30 hours of online training on Idaho Stars during first weeks of hire.

Skills:
- Strong knowledge of early childhood education principles and practices
- Experience working with children in a preschool setting
- Ability to create engaging lesson plans that meet the needs of diverse learners
- Understanding of child welfare and safety guidelines
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with children, parents, and colleagues
- Knowledge of special education strategies to support children with diverse learning needs
- Familiarity with daycare regulations and licensing requirements

Assistant teachers with no prior child care or preschool experience $15 per hour

Assistant teachers with 1-5 years experience in child care or preschool $16 per hour

Assistant teachers with 6-10 plus years experience in child care or preschool $17 per hour

Lead teachers in training with 3-5 years experience $17-$18 per hour. Must be able to perform circle time, manage an assistant, and have professional communication with parents. Must also have a gentle calm approach to child management and able to form strong bonds with children.

Lead teachers with a degree and/or or 10 years experience $18-$20 per hour. Must have taught curriculum instruction and have lots of understanding of child development. Must also have a gentle calm approach to child management and able to form strong bonds with children.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 - $21.00 per hour
