The Director oversees the Accounting and Finance Department and all its operations including the general ledger, budgeting, payroll, financial management and reporting, CFR reporting, audits and legal compliance. The Director also oversees the Human Resource function (including HR principles and practices as well as employment law) the Facilities Department (maintenance and security) and the Information Technology function (including computer and communications networks and technologies). In addition, the Director must understand basic contract law. This position requires interface with LearningSpring School’s Board of Directors. *Key Responsibilities:* _Accounting Duties:_ * Plan, supervise, review and approve day-to-day operations and all accounting and finance functions – including payroll, general ledger, budget, forecasting, revenue collections and accounts payable, manage and forecast cash needs. * Work with the Board of Directors to manage investment portfolio and make periodic reports to the Board on financial matters. * Coordinate the annual external audit, including audit schedules and draft financials, A-133, and Form 990. * Support grant reporting and related audits, negotiations and compliance issues. * Serve as key liaison with banking and investment companies. _Human Resource Duties:_ * Manage and oversee the Human Resources Manager. _Information Technology and Facilities Duties:_ * Oversee the daily operational activities of the IT and Facilities Departments. * Oversee the IT department’s operational planning including improvements, planning, and system updates, and ensure that current IT goals are in-sync with the overall strategic plan of the organization and acceptable IT standards. * Ensure the continuity and security of LearningSpring’s network and systems through careful monitoring the network, programs, and facility security, including audits and risk assessments. * Supervise the Facilities Manager. Establish standards for the maintenance of LearningSpring facilities and security. *Position Requirements:* * Minimum 10 years proven experience supervising an Accounting and Finance department, preferably at a not-for-profit organization. * Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field. * Strong knowledge and understanding of fund accounting and internal control requirements. * Proven ability to analyze, interpret and communicate financial statements, budgets and forecasts to diverse audiences including the Board of Directors. * Technical proficiency in both accounting systems and Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word and PowerPoint). Experience with FundEZ preferred. * Strong knowledge of employment law and HR policies and procedures, with emphasis in employee relations and benefits. * Outstanding ability to manage time and effectively deliver on multiple priorities in a complex environment. * Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality work with extraordinary attention to accuracy and detail. * Well-honed problem-solving skills and ability to communicate proactively, be flexible, and revise priorities and/or propose creative solutions as necessary.
