Leavenworth USD 453 is Hiring a Special Education Process Coordinator Near Leavenworth, KS

Leavenworth U.S.D. #453 is currently seeking applications for a Process Coordinator for the 2024-25 school year. Applicants should hold or be eligible for a valid Kansas teaching license with a special education endorsement. Purpose:

Responsible for facilitating and coordinating district special education programs and services for students with disabilities.


Reports To:
Building Principal and Director of Special Education


Supervises:
Paraprofessionals


Salary:
Based on Negotiated Agreement Salary Schedule


License:
KSDE License with Special Education Endorsement

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university
  • Current Kansas State Teaching Licensure with Special Education endorsement
  • Health and Inoculation Certificate on file in the Central Office
  • Valid Driver’s License

Essential Job Functions

  • Develop, monitor, and evaluate special education programming needs.
  • Monitor the implementation of special education services for students with Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for compliance.
  • Act as Local Education Agency (LEA) representative in IEP meetings.
  • Review IEPs for compliance and provide feedback as necessary.
  • Schedule and conduct Manifestation Determination Review hearings.
  • Create and manage class schedules for students with IEPs.
  • Create and manage special education staff schedules.
  • Create and manage special education teacher caseloads.
  • Monitor paraprofessional time sheets.
  • Provide professional development to district staff.
  • Collect and evaluate data related to students with IEPs (progress monitoring, grades, discipline, etc.).
  • Assist staff with the delivery of instructional methodologies
  • Act as a liaison between students, families, and district personnel.
  • Consult with building and district administration.
  • Coordinate with the Juvenile Detention Center (JDC) for students with IEPs.
  • Coordinate with outside agencies providing services to district students with IEPs.
  • Consult with staff in problem solving for students.
  • Monitor materials and equipment needed.
  • Assist with state file reviews.
  • Coordinate student transportation needs.
  • Demonstrates effective human relations and communication skills.
  • Complies with district safety practices.
  • Complies with all district rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Other duties/responsibilities deemed necessary may be assigned.

Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions

  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to enter data into a computer, to see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids
  • Ability to hear and understand speech at normal classroom levels, outdoors and on the telephone
  • Ability to speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in normal classrooms, outdoors and on the telephone
  • Ability to travel within the district.
  • Physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds to shoulder height and 50 pounds to height.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, sit on floor, climb stairs, walk, and reach overhead.
  • Regular attendance and/or physical presence at the job.

  • Other duties as assigned by the Principal or other Administrative Staff

Contracted Teacher Days, with 10 Extended Contract Days
