Job Title: Fund Accountant

Location: Wilmington, MA (Full-time, In-Office)

Salary: up to $75K

M-F 8:30-4:30 37 1/2 hours

Position Overview: This full-time, in-office position requires a comprehensive understanding of accounting and reporting, along with robust general ledger skills, analytical abilities, and interpersonal capabilities. The ideal candidate will possess full-cycle accounting experience and will manage the general accounting functions from data entry through to general ledger close and reconciliation for a multibillion-dollar Benefits Fund.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform all general accounting tasks from data entry to general ledger close for the entire region.
  • Prepare various monthly reconciliations and analyses, including contributions, benefit distributions, administrative expenses, and fund balance.
  • Calculate and prepare online tax payments to multiple jurisdictions.
  • Conduct online banking functions such as electronic transactions and transaction research.
  • Analyze, report, and correct variances in all accounting areas, including taxes.
  • Support and prepare journal entries, GL postings, GL review/analysis, and reconciliations.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and reports as needed.
  • Record and monitor interfund transactions for accuracy and timeliness.
  • Prepare annual Form 1099's for vendors and benefit recipients in multiple jurisdictions.
  • Maintain and reconcile audit schedules for use by Fund auditors to track and analyze general ledger activity.
  • Assist the Controller and Accounting Supervisor with independent external audit requirements.
  • Engage with external auditors to ensure timely and accurate completion of regulatory filings.
  • Gather, prepare, and reconcile information required for various Funds' regulatory filings.
  • Perform additional accounting, financial, or administrative tasks as needed.
  • Cross-train on all department functions for multiple Funds to provide support as required.
  • Support the Accounting Supervisor and Controller with tasks across all Funds reporting, including the New York area.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting/business management required.
  • Intermediate accounting skills with strong analytical abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Five years of general accounting experience preferred; public accounting and employee benefit plan experience are a plus.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and willingness to train in all areas of accounting.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for interaction with internal staff and external entities.
  • CPA or Master's degree preferred but not required
