Ledgent Technology is Hiring a Database Administrator (Tampa) Near Tampa, FL

Ledgent Technology is seeking a skilled Database Administrator (DBA) for our client in the healthcare industry. In this role, you will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing databases that are critical to healthcare administration services. You'll work closely with development teams, IT staff, and other stakeholders to ensure that data is stored securely, retrieved efficiently, and complies with all relevant regulations. This is a hybrid role, requiring on-site work in downtown Tampa three days per week.
Responsibilities:
Install, configure, and maintain database systems (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle) to ensure optimal performance, security, and availability.
Monitor database performance and perform necessary tuning to optimize efficiency and speed.
Implement and maintain backup and recovery processes to ensure data integrity and availability.
Manage database security by controlling access permissions and privileges, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and other healthcare-related regulations.
Develop and implement database schemas, indexing strategies, and storage management techniques to support application requirements.
Work closely with development teams to support application development and ensure proper integration with databases.
Perform regular database maintenance tasks such as updates, patches, and upgrades.
Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, including performance bottlenecks, data inconsistencies, and security vulnerabilities.
Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing to ensure business continuity.
Document database configurations, processes, and procedures to ensure consistent and reliable database operations.
Qualifications:
5 years of experience as a Database Administrator, preferably in the healthcare industry.
Expertise in database management systems such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, or SQL Server.
Strong knowledge of SQL, database design, and data modeling principles.
Experience with database performance tuning, optimization, and query analysis.
Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automating database tasks.
Familiarity with healthcare-specific data standards (e.g., HL7, FHIR) and experience working with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems.
Knowledge of database security best practices and experience ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Experience with cloud-based database solutions (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL) and hybrid cloud environments.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex database issues.
Strong communication and teamwork abilities, with experience collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with database replication, clustering, and high-availability configurations.
Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and experience with ETL processes.
Familiarity with DevOps practices, including the use of CI/CD pipelines in database deployment.
Certification in database management (e.g., Oracle DBA, Microsoft SQL Server DBA) is a plus.
