Job Title: Sr. Network Engineer

Position Overview: We are looking for a skilled and motivated Sr. Network Engineer to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, securing, and maintaining our expanding network infrastructure. This role requires expertise in network architecture, performance optimization, and security to ensure reliable and secure network operations.

This is a direct hire position that will pay between $110,000 - $157,000 annually. It will have a very flexible hybrid/onsite schedule located in Bloomington, MN.

Key Responsibilities:

Network Design and Implementation:

• Develop and implement secure, scalable, and robust network solutions to support company operations.
• Create and deploy network architecture plans for new and existing systems, including LAN, WAN, WLAN, and VoIP.

Network Maintenance and Support:

• Monitor and maintain network performance and reliability.
• Troubleshoot network issues and outages, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
• Perform regular network performance tuning and generate performance statistics and reports.

Security and Compliance:

• Implement and maintain network security measures to safeguard data, software, and hardware.
• Manage Network Access Control (NAC) systems.
• Conduct regular security assessments and vulnerability testing.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).

Documentation and Reporting:

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date network diagrams, documentation, and inventory records.
• Provide status reports and network performance metrics to management.

Collaboration and Training:

• Collaborate with IT and Cybersecurity team members, other departments, and external vendors.
• Provide training and support to staff on network-related issues and best practices.
• Participate in project planning and prioritization activities.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 7-10 years of experience in network engineering or a similar role.
• Strong knowledge of networking hardware (routers, switches, load balancers, firewalls) and management software.
• Proficient understanding of networking protocols (e.g., IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.11, QoS).
• Solid understanding of the OSI or TCP/IP model.
• Experience with network monitoring and analysis tools.
• Strong understanding of network security principles and practices.
• Excellent problem-solving, debugging skills, and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCIE, CompTIA Network ) are preferred.

Preferred Skills:

• Extensive experience with Extreme Switches, Extreme CloudIQ, Cisco Routers, Palo Alto Firewalls, and Meraki Wi-Fi systems.
• Experience with industry-standard monitoring tools (Wireshark/SolarWinds).
• Experience with cloud networking (Azure).
• Familiarity with automation and scripting (PowerShell, Ansible, Python, CLI scripting via Extreme Site Engine).
• Knowledge of virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V).
• Experience with FARS, EAR, ITAR, or Department of Defense (DoD) requirements is a plus.
• Knowledge of encryption technologies (SSL/IPSEC).
