Lee County Clerk of the Circuit Court & Comptroller is Hiring a County Records Services Specialist 1 Near Fort Myers, FL

OverviewThe County Records Services Office records and prepares the minutes of the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) and Port Authority Commissioners as a permanent record. The Clerk, through this office, is the custodian of all original contracts, agreements, resolutions and ordinances approved and adopted by the County/Port Authority Commissioners and the Leasing Corporation.

Position Function and DutiesThe County Records Services (CRS) Specialist is able to process documents, produce minutes from various meetings and assist with the Value Adjustment Board process.
Position Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Participate in rotation of meeting attendance
  • Set up and dismantle recording equipment
  • Attend, take notes, and record the meetings of the BOCC and other selected committees and groups
  • Maintain accuracy of document tracking lists
  • Compose clear, concise minutes of the meetings attended
  • Be able to transport and set up laptops for recording purposes at various locations
  • Process and/or verify documents approved by the Board of County Commissioners and through the administrative process.
  • Assist the public with records requests and copywork

QualificationsEducation, Experience & Certification(s)
  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Five years of customer service experience required
  • Five years of clerical experience or any combination education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the position duties
  • Intermediate level skills with Adobe, MS Outlook, Word, and Excel required
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Accurate keyboarding and data entry skills required
  • Accurate sequential filing skills required
  • Proficiency in business English and business math required
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail required
  • Ability to assist and train others within knowledge areas
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; with legible writing skills
  • Effective interpersonal skills, strong work ethic and professional demeanor required
  • Use tact in sensitive situations, maintain confidentiality of restricted files, and maintain a courteous attitude at all times
  • Work is performed under minimum supervision; requires initiative and independent judgment
  • Ability to work under pressure and deadlines
  • Demonstrate proficiency with operations and general care of the PC, printers and other required office equipment
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including an occasional evening, Saturday or Sunday

  • Office: Majority of the time is spent sitting at the computer, remainder of the time is spent assisting in other functions
  • Work from Home (if applicable): Majority of the time is spent sitting at the computer
  • This position requires clear verbal interaction with employees, the public and agencies
  • This position may require bending and reaching
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and current insurance
  • The ability to provide own transportation and drive to meetings, to other sites throughout Lee County and occasionally surrounding counties to review products, or attend meetings, seminars or classes
  • This position may require going to other departments and/or offices on different floors and/or buildings throughout the day
  • This position may require occasional travel to other sites to review products, or attend meetings, seminars or classes
  • Ability to use standard office equipment
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
