Dedicated Aide Position Description

Under the direction of the Campus Special Education Manager, the Dedicated Aide will assist with specialized instruction and related services for primary-age children with emotional disorders, autism, developmental delays in one or more areas, intense behavioral challenges, multiple learning problems, and other related disorders. The Dedicated Aide will assist their assigned student throughout the school day by making the curriculum and daily activities accessible for the student.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Support Student(s) with Special Needs throughout the School Day

1. Assist the student with participation in lessons, daily activities, and assessments.
2. Facilitate independent work with materials in the Montessori environment.
3. Support lessons under the direction of the Guide and the Student Support Coordinator in the resource room and class.
4. Implement prescribed behavioral strategies and positive behavior support in all settings.
5. Accompany and assist student(s) during related service sessions (speech therapy, occupational therapy, etc).

Collaborate with Teaching Team and Special Education Team

1. Collaborate with the Guide and Campus Special Education Manager in the planning and management of lessons and work that the student will be done independently and with support.
2. Provide regular communication about students’ development to the Guide.
3. Works with the teaching team to ensure the classroom contains sufficient supplies and materials for individualized instructional support.
4. Keeps other members of the classroom teaching team, appropriate service providers, and families informed of progress and challenges regarding the student.

Assist in Data Collection and Record-Keeping

1. Participate in all training related to data collection and assessment.
2. Gather written observations and input them in Transparent Classroom and Teaching Strategies GOLD.
3. Discuss observations with the Guide and other teaching staff.
4. Participate in IEP Meetings.

Requirements

• Have a firm commitment to upholding Lee Montessori PCS’ mission.
• A high school diploma is required.
• Willingness and availability to attend relevant paid onboarding training.
