The City of Rawlins is seekinga Landfill/Recycling Superintendent to join our team. This is a full-time, FLSA exempt position working under the direction of the Community Development Director. The Landfill/Recycling Superintendent performs a variety of supervisory and administrative duties related to planning, organizing, directing, and coordinating the engineering, construction, operation and maintenance of the city landfill and recycling center. Assures compliance with various federal and state agency regulations related to hazardous waste, environmental impact, land management, and overall landfill and recycling operations. Minimum & Special qualifications: Graduation from high school and Five (5) years of experience in the operation and maintenance of landfill operations or An equivalent combination of education and experience Considerable knowledge of engineering specifications and methods of constructing landfill sites and drainage systems; prinicples and techniques of supervision; safety standards related to equipment operations and maintenance; federal and state regulations related to hazardous waste and environmental protech; land resource management. Working knowledge of proper operations and care of heavy equipment. Working knowledge of operation and care of computers and applicable programs. Interpersonal communications, negotiations and conflict resolutions, technical writing and grantsmanship. Must be bondable. Must be or become a Certified Landfill Manager through the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA). Be able to lift and/or pull up to 75 pounds. Communicate, hear and see to perform daily functions/tasks.
