Legal Aid of Western Missouri is Hiring a Paralegal II: Litigation Support Near Kansas, MO
Legal Aid of Western Missouri is seeking a full-time paralegal to help further its mission of providing equal access to justice to low-income individuals. The litigation support paralegal assists the staff attorneys in the Domestic Unit in representing survivors of domestic violence with child custody cases, paternity actions, and actions for dissolution of marriage.
The job duties of this position include drafting documents; gathering information and records from third parties; conducting client interviews and assisting clients with their responses to discovery; communicating with court staff and shelter advocates; performing outreach duties as assigned; assisting attorneys in file maintenance; and performing other duties as assigned.
The qualified candidate must have the following:
Bachelors' or Associates degree
Certificate program in paralegal studies
Previous experience as a paralegal
Knowledge of legal terminology and legal communication principles and practices
Familiarity with Family Law helpful
General competency using a computer and working with Word and Excel
Ability to speak Spanish, Arabic, Vietnamese, Somali or Dinka would be preferred, but not required.
Pay: $24.35 per hour with a 37.5-hour work week, plus DOE.
