JOB SUMMARY: Responsible to develop curriculum and materials for childcare children that reinforces academic progress and builds their cultural knowledge. The children participate in many cultural activities such as beading, basket weaving, native language lessons, storytelling, games and music. The program offers a healthy balance between academic support and cultural awareness.

LICENSE REQUIRED: Must obtain and hold a Class II gaming license while employed and complete an annual background check with TGA.
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED FOR POSITION: High school diploma or GED equivalent required. Knowledge of the Yakama Cultural and Language required. Two (2) years verifiable past work experience in a childcare setting preferred. Twenty (20) hours basic Stars Training initially with ten (10) hours continuing Stars Training. Must be able to obtain First aid card/CPR, Food Handlers card. Must have TB Test prior to hire. Prefer 30 hours Initial Training through an approved training provider or the ability to obtain within 90 days of hire. Prefer Early Childhood Certificate. Will be required to enroll in classes to obtain if certificate not completed.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to perform physical activities, such as, but not limited to, lifting children or heavy items (up to 50#’s unassisted), bending, standing, climbing or walking. Must be able to work safely in an environment containing biological conditions which may be unhealthy or hazardous (such as bodily fluids and waste, germs, childhood disease).
