SUMMARY

Plan and provide instruction to veterinary assistant students. Help students build on their personal and professional experiences, gain content knowledge, and develop skills related to the field of veterinary science.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS include the following:

• Instruct students in the selected course content that includes:
• Veterinary Technology o Terminology, animal body structures and systems, vet tech, and animal care
• Animal Care Technologies o Equine, swine, cattle, dogs, cats, and other animals
• Class to be held once per week in person at the LISD TECH Center with a.m. and p.m. sessions
• Supervise and monitor all assigned students during assigned course in order to provide them with a safe and engaging educational experience
• Take attendance weekly
• Keep virtual classrooms up to date with weekly assignments
• Keep online communication open and available to students

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Required:

• Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate and Michigan Vocational Authorization OR eligible for Annual Career Authorization
• High School Diploma
• Proven knowledge base of course content, either through appropriate experience and/or education

Preferred:

• Associates Degree or professional certificate

REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, and REGISTRATIONS

• Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate for Secondary Level with applicable Vocational Authorization in occupational area or eligible for Annual Career Authorization for up to 10 years
