Lenoir–Rhyne University is Hiring a College of Natural Science and Mathematics Near Hickory, NC

Location: Hickory, North Carolina

The College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics seeks applications for part-time faculty appointments at the rank of adjunct professor in biology, chemistry, computer science, engineering physics and mathematics. Since these are part-time appointments, they are not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities and Qualifications

This position involves a semester-by-semester contract involving coursework for undergraduate students of up to 9 hours per semester (compensation based on classroom contact hours) in a seated classroom environment. A minimum of a master’s degree in biology, chemistry, computer science, engineering physics, mathematics or a closely related field is required. The degree must be awarded before the start date of this position. Teaching may include introductory courses, with the potential of advanced courses as needed, and evaluating student success and achievement with timely student feedback within those courses. Evidence of college teaching experience is highly preferred but not required. Candidates must be able to conduct their assigned courses of instruction in the best manner possible to achieve student learning, including presenting ideas in ways appropriate to various learning styles and showing sensitivity to a diverse student population. Successful candidates will display a commitment and capacity for teaching excellence.
