This is a direct opportunity that has a hybrid work schedule. We need an engineer that has used casting simulation software end user (Magmasoft, EKK, Flow3D, ProCast, etc.) Responsibilities:
Perform initial manufacturing feasibility of new cast product designs and provide equipment and tooling recommendations
Provide design for manufacturability (DFM) guidance and recommendations to support product design teams
Set-up, execute, and summarize metal casting process simulation activities
Present and defend technical reviews of casting designs to internal and external customers
Support cross-functional multi-regional teams in casting development, launch, and production improvement
Some travel (10-15 %) will be required to support manufacturing sites and attend industry events
Significant international travel may be required for training in the first year of employment, dependent upon experience
Ideal Qualifications
8-10 years of work experience
Minimum 3 years of continuous experience as casting process or casting process simulation engineer
Experience in a high volume production foundry of light alloy castings preferred
Knowledge of other manufacturing processes related to metal casting production is a plus
Formal education in engineering or materials science (bachelor's degree or higher preferred)
Trained user of casting process simulation software (MAGMAsoft preferred)
Strong understanding of High Pressure Die Casting (HPDC) and/or Low Pressure Die Casting (LPDC)
Strong understanding of Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) methods and related topics
Ability to operate Computer Aided Design (CAD) software (capable to review, translate, and perform minor modifications)
Ability to solve problems independently (formal training in problem solving methods e.g. 6-sigma is a plus)
Familiarity with automotive components and systems as well as their function and design
Eager self-starter that can manage multiple projects with competing timelines in an organized manner
Team player that collaborates well with others both in-person and remotely
Must be proficient in the use of computers and various applications (scripting and coding skills are a plus)
Must speak, read, and write English including complex technical texts
Proficiency in German and Spanish are a plus
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience simulating light alloy casting in high and/or low pressure Ideal: Magmasoft Proficient in use of CAD software
Experience designing tooling for high and/or low pressure casting Ideal: Catia and/or NX
Previous experience at automotive Tier 1, tool shop for Tier 1 automotive casters, or simulation software company
Familiarity with casting design standards (e.g. NADCA) Bonus: casting process engineer or technician experience
