Learn more about us (3) LER TechForce: Life | LinkedIn What you will be doing: Our client is a trailer OEM developing a software-based vehicle in a market segment historically not employing this level of technology. Electrical/Electronics Technician II in the future technology Engineering development team will work to set up, maintain and repair electronic systems and devices in low and high voltage systems on heavy duty commercial vehicles. You'll test system performance, analyze and report on results. This role requires hands-on experience using various hand and power tools to calibrate and align system components and circuitry. To succeed in this position, you should also be able to comprehend and follow complex technical manuals. Vehicle systems will use 12V/24V DC and high voltage AC storage devices.
  • Work directly with other Engineers and Technicians in a Lab setting with large vehicles.
  • Install, maintain, repair, construct, modify and service electrical and electronic equipment.
  • Analyze equipment by using an oscilloscope, voltmeter, ammeter, power supplies, capacitance meters and recording style meters under minimal supervision.
  • Assemble and connect system components (i.e., cables/connectors/ECU's)
  • Knowledge of automotive harness terminations for Low voltage DC and High voltage AC systems
  • Work on prototype vehicles and bench top models based on technical guidelines.
  • Work with multi-wire harnesses - power and data - to determine faults and repair/replace as needed.
  • Test system functionality and analyze data; report findings to assist the Design Engineering project.
  • Ability to work on coolant filled piping/pumps.
  • Read and comprehend complex manuals and diagrams.
  • Collaborate with engineers and other professionals on technical tasks.
  • Use various tools to build and repair systems (i.e., grinders/drills/lifts)
  • Update reports and maintain inventory in a 5S lab environment.
  • Calculate and provide cost estimates of electronic systems materials.
  • Other activities as appropriate.
What you'll need to be successful: Essential:
  • Education: Associate's degree in Electronics or apprenticeship with multiple years of experience in the field
  • 5-years' experience as electronics technician or similar role
  • Experience with sensor technologies in the vehicle industry
  • Hands-on experience with electronic testing and circuitry (AC/DC)
  • Familiarity working with high and low voltage devices (AC/DC)
  • Familiarity working with assortment of tools and electronic equipment.
  • Demonstrates analytical ability necessary to perform calculations, interpret data from sketches, manuals, diagnose problems with equipment and solve problems.
  • Position requires a clear understanding of safety requirements when working in a high voltage environment.
  • Ability to stand, stoop, bend, walk, reach.
  • Ability to lift items up to 50lbs without assistance.
  • Travel maybe required to aid with customers, tradeshows, and off-site demonstrations.
  • MS Office and diagnostic software (i.e., PC-based)
