Leaf - Lesaffre Advanced Fermentations is a Business Unit of the Lesaffre Group, world leader in yeast and yeast extract. The Business Unit is in charge of developing the Group market share in ethanol applications, by developing innovative yeast products that provide end users with technical and economical benefits.
Core functions
  • To report to management on factors that are either benefiting or affecting the company Yearly Marketing Plan and/or product offer, such as competitive technologies and/or deviations to fermentation process.
  • In liaison with the Sales Director, to increase the level of customer support to selected customers/key accounts.
  • Upon request, assist the Technical Manager in the implementation of the Product Innovation & Renovation (PI&R) and customer support strategies: technical studies, company representation, support to and training of sales force, training sessions, etc.
  • To operate within agreed expenses.
Reporting
Reports to Sales Director with cross functional responsibilities reporting to Technical Director.
Duties
  • Execute training sessions in liaison with Technical Service Manager and Sales Director.
  • Organize data collection for selected accounts in liaison with Technical Service Manager and Sales Director.
  • Using the above, realize plant audits and develop recommendations for process optimizations.
  • Upon the request of Technical Service Manager, troubleshoot fermentation and fermentation related processes of selected customers/key accounts.
  • Upon the request of Technical Service Manager provide technical support to Technical Sales Managers.
  • Assist in customer inquiries to assure fermentation and fermentation related process issues are resolved with selected customers/key accounts.
  • Assist Technical Sales Managers to assure fermentation and fermentation related processes are optimized with selected customers/key accounts.
  • Upon request of Sales Director and/or Technical Service Manager assist / provide technical training to the Leaf Technologies Technical Sales team.
  • Provide technical support that identifies technical solutions for fermentation and fermentation related processes of selected customers/key accounts.
  • Provide direct technical support to key accounts by reviewing data, writing technical reports and providing recommendations / follow up to resolve any fermentation issues.
  • Develop strong relationships with key accounts by visiting existing, target and potential customers in order to identify key buying influences and to identify key contacts (influencers, decision-makers) at each plant location.
  • Monitor competitive activity by identifying and following up competitor's organization and product & services offer. Report to Sales Director.
  • Develop call frequency / plant visits in a manner consistent with strategic and tactical plans.
Promotion
  • Identify opportunities of promotion and report to management.
  • Promote Leaf Technologies products within the trade, highlighting their technical and economical benefits and raising Leaf Technologies as the expert in the industry. Take an active role in the promotion of products through technical publications, paper and poster presentations, and participation at international and national trade shows, conferences and seminars - as per instructions of Sales Director.
Travel
This position requires 60-70% travel.
Quality
Document and follow up on complaints from customers. Liaison with Sales Director and/or Technical Manager as and when required.
Others
Other duties may be assigned.
Autonomy and reporting
  • Operates within agreed expenses budget (see Budget).
  • Weekly movements to be agreed upon by Sales Director.
  • Reports of audits and troubleshooting to Technical Service Manager and Sales Manager/Technical Sales force.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; preferably in Microbiology or related field with 5 or more years of technical support / sales experience in fermentation or related fields. Equivalent combination of education and experience considered if related specifically to fuel ethanol or alcohol production.
